VARIOUS
SCREWS
USED
ON A SERRO SCOTTY ____________________________________ This is some information on various screws that have been used on different year Scottys. This information is compliments of David - lilscotty1963. I hope this information can help you when trying to find the right screw to use on your Scotty. You can always take one to a good hardware store and likely they can match it. Anyone with more info please EMAIL ME and I will add it to this page. "The "right" screws depend on the year & your wallet. All the stainless listed can also be had in zinc plated and is less spendy. These hex head SS screws
below
are for windows and everything else on pre-65? Scottys except the
corner molding. 3/8", 1/2" & 3/4" used in various places- I just
ordered the 1/2 & 3/4 since I still have a bunch of 3/8".
NO. 8 SIZE, 3/4" LENGTH
10.99
NO. 8 SIZE, 1/2" LENGTH
10.99
These screws replace the aluminum spiral nails in the corner molding (the aluminum piece that mates the roof to the sides). All years. If your siding is punky, get longer ones and drive very straight and you'll hit real wood (I used some 2" in my first Gaucho in some places!). These also are used for the transverse seams in ? pre-64 Scottys. Check that you have 2 x 2 beams and not the 1/2" thick one used in later years for more head clearance and guaranteed roof collapses w/ snow loads!
NO 6 SIZE, 1-1/4" LENGTH
11.15
This is one of 3 lengths of screws used for windows & everything else except the corner molding on I think 64 and later Scottys (My 66 has them as does my 68 but not the 63. I was unable to find these in stainless but they the originals lasted pretty good and are cheap enough that they can be
replaced
easily if you don't strip anything.
NO 8 SIZE, 3/4" LENGTH 6.93

Thanks David for the
information!
