            So great is the call of God unto man, at best one can only shew forth the "whispers" thereof. It is a call that has sounded down through the ages, beginning in the garden of Eden, when God called unto Adam, "Where art thou?" Not because God did not know where Adam was , but because God would reveal to Adam the depths of his own self-will, and the direction this would lead him-- away from God, away from a consciousness of His abiding presence, away from that deep, intimate communion which Adam had shared. In the hearing of this call of God unto us, there is not only the joy of our return unto Him, but also the blessedness of sharing the richness of His love and grace to others, as they in turn are called, and drawn unto Him. For truly, "In Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his own order." (1 Corth. 15:22-23). But never should the outworkings of the "call of service to others" eclipse our own call of ministering to the Lord -- to fellowship with Him, walk with Him in that communion of total oneness with Him.
            It is to those who are now hearing this upward call that we dedicate this book, that it might confirm and comfort.
