Say Hello (Friendly Strangers)
© 2007 imagigami

Friendly strangers eye to eye
With wine to drink and time to fly.
A lover’s not a stranger, though.
Find a way. Two say “Hello.”

The first time that you say “Hello”
You say it with a smile you know.
A warm so long? Or cold sorrow?
    Will two smile “Hello” tomorrow?

Friendly lovers in a fight,
Restless days and sleepless nights.
But if it’s love you have to show
Find a way. Two say “Hello.”

Sayin’ “Hello” is just the same
As sayin’ “Oh Hell !!” bass-ackwards again.
And it always seems when the fightin’s done
That two been fightin’ instead of one.

Friends and lovers now and then
Come and go.  You don’t know when.
Here today, and there we go,
Fondly lovers sigh “Hello”
Will you smile “Hello” tomorrow?

Alcohol Fever
© 2007 imagigami

I  wake up in the morning if I take a drink.
It clears my mind and makes me think.
That I got no use for a bottle top,
When I open the bottle, Lord, I don't stop.

Alcohol fever. Rock my body. Keep me cool.
Let me live by the Golden Rule

I drink whiskey, beer and vintage wine and the
Cocktail hour comes ‘most any old time.
Late each night I can be found
Staggering from bar to bar, goin’ round after round.

You know alcohol is made from sugar by yeast.
Because one man’s poison is the other man’s feast.
And sugar’s made from sunlight, so is all we eat.
Sugar, won’t you help me stand up on my feet?

Ethanolitis, hyper-uptightis !
Lord knows I fight it too.
Live or die, don’t ask me why.
I ain’t your doctor, could be your fool.

Early in the morning, honey, when you ain’t here
I open up an ice cold beer.
‘cause I love you baby and I hate to lose --
Drinkin’ whiskey’s the same as drinkin’ the blues.

Honky Tonk Happiness
© 2007 imagigami

Drinkin’ out in bars is something different
Than sittin’ home alone to watch T.V.
In bars you sit you think you talk you listen
A lonely kind of home and family.

And a bar is full of lonely people
With nothin’ more than lots of time to spend.
Lookin’ out for other lonely people
Waitin’ for another night to end.

You know lookin’ out for some one else, that’s lonesome.
It reminds you that you’re tryin’ to forget
‘cause you wonder if the one you miss feels lonesome?
You’re worried that there’s some one new they’ve met

So, what do you do with the honky tonk happiness?
What do make when you make a new friend?
Maybe it’s love, not just honky tonk happiness?
Maybe it’s really, not just pretend.

Every time you wake up with a stranger
You’ve always had another dream or two.
Some dreams are easy to remember.
Some dreams just vanish when they’re through.

The next time that you wake up with a lover
You wonder if and how and when you’ll part.
There’s one thing we all have that lasts forever
There’s no one wants another broken heart.

It’s the morning after honky tonkin’ pleasure,
And you danced all night to that honky tonkin’ band.
If folks still feel alonely when they’re together
There’ll always be another one night stand.

Love Will Make You Late to Work
© 2007 imagigami

Just when you least expect it, you’re walkin’ down the street
And you see some one you want, you know. Some one you want to meet.
You stop and ask, “How are you?” They wink and flirt “Just fine.”
You share a smile and in a while you lose your sense of time

So you’re in a bar ‘til closin’, and with your brand new pal.
You make it home together but you don’t remember how.
Sunrise finds you rockin’, you’ve both been on a roll and
You call your supervisor and put the whole damn day on hold.

You make it to the office just fashionably late
You get busy gettin’ out of there ‘cause tonight’s another date
It’s hard to make a living with a lover on your mind
Some days you find you’re late to work the days you are on time

The same is true the mornings you wake up all alone
No one you know has had the time to call you on the phone
You get to work it’s early just to pass the time of day
Wishin’ there was some one and some hookey you could play

You wish you didn’t have to but you make that lonely call
With nothin’ left to say or do except staring at the wall
The trouble is you’re angry and broken-hearted too
You wish you had your lover and you didn’t feel so blue

When you had enough of fightin’ with your lover on the phone
You feel you need to be in touch, you make your way back home
The crack of dawn comes early when you’re back in love again
So you turn off your alarm clock and sleep ‘til noon that’s when

Surprise the other morning it was breakfast in bed for me
All dressed up in a camisole and truly a sight to see
Buttered up the sweet roll, and turned up the heat
When the breads commenced to risin’ we both commenced to eat

It was the dark part of the morning the late part of the night
I couldn’t even find my snooze-alarm but we was feelin’ right
The cock, he crowed good morning the cat, she stretched and stirred
That tiger started bitin’ me I made her smile and purr.
