…Are you ready for a smart, lively companion you can actually do something with?

ü     Jacks are NOT for the weak at heart!

ü     They may be small, but they’re not “foo-foo” dogs!

ü     They are NOT for young children…

they play much too hard & rough for the wee bairns!

ü     There is not one mean streak in them, but they are

little dogs with a big dog attitude

- And ten times the energy and might!

Ø                   Who I am  & why I raised these pups

Jack Russell Terrier Club of America:  They are not registered for JRTCA yet.  JRTCA does not register dogs under 1 year old, nor will they accept dogs registered by any other registration organization.  Of course, I would not “renounce” Piper’s UKC registration and lineage.  (Most people do not bother with papers for Jacks – they are one of the FEW pure hunting breeds left!)  JRTCA registers each dog on its own merits, with photographs certified by a DVM, taken after 1 year old.  Registration is not dependent upon parents’ registry.

Most Jacks are selling for $700 – $1200.  Therefore, my asking price is VERY reasonable, considering the quality of these pups, their lineage, aptitude, and health compared to others offered.  Shop around, you will find that what I state here is true.

Terms:  Ten day return: Return the pup (live) and paperwork back to me, and I will return what was paid to me for the pup.  I will ALWAYS accept them back into my home, regardless of when or why; no refund after 10 days.

They go with a collar, leash, a toy, health record booklet, and pedigree copies.

They began eating soft puppy chow at 4 weeks old, and at 5 weeks were starting to chew on dry chow.  They were completely weaned from their mother at 8 weeks old (August 29th).  (I do not believe it is behaviorally good for pups to leave their dam before 8 wks. old.)

At 8 wks old, they had already learned the meanings of: “Come,” “puppy chow,” “kennel,” “let’s go to bed,” and “no.” They already know their nicknames.  They are socialized in a home setting – these are pets - not kennel raised, socially deprived puppies.  So they are familiar with tile, carpet, TV & radio noise, wash machines & dishwashers – all the things that frighten kennel raised puppies.  Our routine is I get up in the morning and feed everyone while we have loose playtime, and I get ready for work.  They stay with their mom & litter in their 4’ x 3’ kennel inside the house while I work, and they already know that routine as normal.  We play and have free time again, until I go to bed, at which time they go back to their bed and stay until I get up the next morning.  So they were born into “people” routine…not kennel routine!

These would make great house pets, but I do not recommend leaving any age Jack loose in a home, unattended…they’re much too inquisitive to be “loose on the house.”

They also make EXCELLENT farm dogs.  - Barns that have cats still have mice… barns that have Jacks…don’t!  These however, are not outdoor (in Colorado) dogs!

These would also make great Hearing Ear dogs.

I want these pups to go to good homes where they are happy, and their masters love them for what they are.

The pups have had their 6 and 10 week-old vaccinations: Canine Distemper, Adenovirus Type 2, Coronavirus, Parainvluenza, and Parvovirus ML & K (They will need one more at 12-13 wks with Leptospirosis, and Rabies at 6 mos to 1 year old; all again annually thereafter); Tails have been docked 1/3rd length, and dewclaws removed.  The females are smooth coated (short) fur length, and the male will be broken coated (short fur with “manly” muzzle whiskers, and a short ruff mane on his shoulders). See “Piper’s Page” for an example of this fur.

Fiddler’s Square Dance

Male, Tri-Colored white, tan and black

L – Fiddler “holding his own” with one of the girls, Maggie - R

L – Katie, R - Fiddler

Fiddler is a bright young man, with his sire’s even temperament.  He manages to hold his own with the girls.  He is the tallest, balanced with straight legs.  He will be built of standard size like his sire, but probably slightly smaller, and will have a broken coat.  He has a unique white square on his forehead, and a diamond on his back, thus his name combined from markings, and his sire’s and dam’s names:  Fiddler’s Square Dance.  He has a cute little black nose, with a whisp of white on the right side of his nose.  He has a very loving nature, likes to be held, and as is especially fond of neck and back rubs.  He is most content, falling asleep on the couch beside me at night.    Reduced to $400.00

e

Katie Kate

Female, Tri-colored white, red with black mask

L – Fiddler, R - Katie

Katie looking down at Fiddler

Katie is a delightful, happy, springy little pup.  She gets the vote as Miss Congeniality.  She gets along with everyone and is happy with her littermates or people equally well.  She has an excellent ear set, shaped in the classic perfect “V” of the Jack Russell, is well balanced and will be smaller than her sire, but still of the standard size and build.  She is attentive, sharp and an excellent example of the JRT.  She looks and acts most like her dam…she cannot “control her licker.”  She is full of kisses and wriggles with joy when its her time for the morning hello.  She would make a great family pet.   Reduced to $350.00

e

Dottie

Female, white and red

Sold

Dottie is the smallest – but not the shortest.

She is by far the smartest and most athletic in the litter.  She would be a good competitor in any trial or agility performance, with the right owner.  In this, she is most like her dam.

Dottie has found herself a wonderful home
with a 14 year old boy!

L – Fiddler, R- Dottie

Dottie is by far one of the brightest, most intelligent pups I have had the opportunity to know.  She already knows “down.”  She was a week ahead of the rest of the litter in ALL things.  She walked first, ran first and could get up on the couch by herself at 3 weeks old.  She has learned most things after being told twice, and is willing to try to please.  She has great focus and listens well…except when it comes to trying to become friends with my 17 year old cat, who’d rather not play with puppies anymore.  She is curious and confident in herself enough to try new things.  She is extremely athletic and with her abilities would be the choice for an owner who wants a little dog that can compete in some type of performance trials.  She would be the one for that owner who wants a dog to do something with, instead of a boring lap dog to look at and pet.  She is going to be a great “lets go do it” companion with a lot of personality and ability.  $400.00

e

Maggie

Female, Tri-colored, white, brown and black, “shortie”

Maggie is the pick for those who prefer the darker colors,

as her markings on her back and rear are the exact color

of my mahogany piano.

L- Dorsal of Dottie,

R – Dorsal of Maggie

Maggie has a cute little stripe on her forehead,

and another stripe down the center of her nose

Maggie will be a “shortie.”  She is big boned but has the shorter legs of her dam.  She is a very expressive pup, and is the most aware of her surroundings compared to her litter mates.  Very little gets by her without her trying to be involved.  She truly cares what is going on around her.  This will make her a very attentive family pet.  Everything Maggie does, she gets completely into it.  She plays rougher, shows extreme affection, worries if she does wrong…etc.  She is the “sensitive” type.  Because she does play rougher, I would not recommend her for a home with young children, because as a pup she doesn’t understand her own potential.  She would probably also make a very good “go to ground” competitor as she is short, applies herself well, and is so willing to please.  I apologize I was unable to get a good picture of her face to show her great expression.  She has very soft, expressive eyes with the “eyebrow” wrinkles in her skin, giving her that sweet, innocent look.  Although a shortie, her leg structure appears straight.   Reduced to $350.00

e

Two-Eyed Susan (Susie)

Female “classic” white, tan with black mask, “shortie”

Front Susie, Background Katie

Centered, Susie from the topside,

Maggie top, right corner

Susie has that “classic” color that is hard to find, and is associated with the Jack Russell Terrier…the face movie producers are looking for, and stuffed animals mimic.

She also has two small tan dots at the base of both ears, symmetrically placed, and faint tan spots on her right ear, with a white edge on her left ear.  Her right front leg might not be perfectly straight after she ages; its difficult to tell at this age.

Susie will be a nice pet.  She is a very friendly, “laid-back, Jack”  who is confident in herself.  She is the shortest of the litter, but the biggest boned, with the biggest ears, and biggest head.  She is not the epitome of “gracefulness.”  In other words, the young girl will not become a ballerina.  She still has not figured out how to get up on the couch herself, so she waits patiently at your feet.  She has mastered the art of the puppy-dog-sad-eye-look that demands you just pick her up, hold her close, give loving hugs…so she can be in your lap.  She has figured out how to get people to help her get what she wants, but she does it in a patient non-invasive way.  She falls asleep after play in the evening on the couch beside me…where she is happiest.  One important point:  Susie’s new owner must have self control with her “groceries.”  If allowed, Susie shows the potential of becoming “portly,” a very unhealthy condition for a small, long backed, short legged dog.  She loves to eat…so her new owner will need to watch her diet. She, “Two-Eyed Susan” is named after her older sister, “Black-Eyed Susan” (below).    Reduced to $400.00

An additional note about this litter:  Since they were three days old, I have taken them to a nursing home to see the residents there.  This served two purposes:  It socialized them in a different environment from home, away from their mother for a couple hours, gave them experience with car rides, and strangers who treated them with the utmost care and love; and it did as much for the hearts of the elderly as well.  So they have started “careers” as therapy dogs…

Again, about their start in training:  As I always do with pups, they have been petted while eating and chewing bones, and have begun going “outside” with mom & dad to observe, and do as they do their “business” outdoors.  So this week, they have learned “outside,” “inside,” and “go potty” commands.  However, Jacks have little to no control regarding house training until after approximately 12 weeks of age.  They already know “no,” “cookie,” “get down,” and “come,” “puppy chow,” “bones,” “stay back,” “quiet-no bark, “good dog,” and “bad dog.”  They follow feet already, so they all should be able to learn sit, lay and heel the first to second week in their new homes, with proper training.  They have a good start.
