JOELS FLY FISHING PAGE This is a well done personal page which includes a reference to a remarkable archive of casting and fishing conversations by expert and knowledgeable casters, some of whose names you will recognize. To find the archive go to Joel's page and click on his "info about the flyfishing list servers". This will take you to a page entitled "Flyfishing list Servers info.There you punch Flyfish list server to reach the Flyfish home page. On the Flyfish home page you find a box labeled FF@archives. This brings you to a page entitled "Whats in the FLYFISH Archive?" This archive has a search engine built into it by Joel Dunn, your host. If you search for "Fly casting" you will find a number of interesting conversations over the years -you search each individual year - which will explore aspects of making the rod work. These are knowlegeable and opinionated people but you should find it interesting and instructive.
You can also search for "bonefish", "bass bugs" or any thing your little heart desires and who knows what fascinating conversations will appear.

r. SCARBOROUGH FLY & BAIT CASTING ASSOCIATION
This is a very active casting club which has weekly winter indoor sessions in a school gymnasium in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, next door to Toronto. They are busy casting and fishing in the summer as well.
s. San Jose Fly Casters This active fishing, casting and tournament casting club has recently persuaded San Jose, California to build casting ponds and is conducting four levels of casting instruction and active casting games participation as well as a full schedule of fly tying, fishing and conservation activities.
Graig Spolek is a professor of Mechanical Engineering who has done significant work in the analysis of fly rods aimed at forming a realistic fly rod calibration system. He has now joined the net world with a home page which includes an extensive bibliography of scientific study of the fly rod by Dr. Spolek and many others.

Roberto Pragliola is an Italian fishing and casting personage who has created this interesting web site devoted to his TLT fly casting method. The page describes a long stroke cast with thrusting of the rod at the end of the stroke and purports to be a completely new advance in the art of casting. We are trying to get a video of the stroke and will then compare his new stroke with the old strokes. Roberto's web site is impressively done and worth the price of admission. I urge experimenting with this method and welcome any comments.
v. GORAN ANDERSSON'S PAGE on the switch cast
Goran Andersson is a Swedish caster who works with the Loop tackle people. He has an interesting and informative web page (part of the Loop display)demonstrating the Underhand Switch Cast. There is some discussion as to whether this cast was in use before Goran began spreading good news about it about ten years ago but whether he invented it or not it is a good cast to know and we appreciate the chance to learn more about it from this accomplished caster.
w. FLY CASTING PROGRAM AIDS WOMEN WITH BREAST CANCER
Studies show that the light repetitive motion of fly casting can be beneficial in reducing the pooling of fluids following a mastectomy. There are a number of volunteer programs around the country aimed at supplying the fly casting experience and instruction to post mastectomy women. The linked web site describes these programs and contains an 800 number for further information.

This is a virtual text book on the web of fly casting tips by a knowledgeable British fly casting instructor and author. He candidly contrasts the British way with the other way on many of the casting techniques he describes in these 49 pages of casting stuff that he charges 25 pounds an hour to teach in person.
z. GOLDEN GATE ANGLING AND CASTING CLUB of San Francisco
The Golden Gate club is one of the storied sites of fishing and casting action over the nearly departed 20th Century. No flyfisher should visit San Francisco without seeing Angler's Lodge and the three casting pools. Every day there will be casters, fly tiers or people just hanging out and polishing their fish stories. They even have a spot where one can cast in a sort of well in the water and simulate casting waist deep in a river.
The Tampa Bay Fly Casting Club is a potent center of heavy duty casting in the salt. They feature an annual Big Gun Shootout casting contest with innovative games, some combining accuracy and distance casts in the same event. Their page also features interesting commentary on the art of casting a fly line.
The Japan Casting Association has put up a web page and has begun an English language version.

The casting information is worth seeing and they have very nice color pictures. It appears that the casting information is a work in progress and will be expanded from time to time. The pictures load instantaneously.

This club in Tasmania is on the right track. They fish and they play casting games so they can fish better. Their website features a photo of their casting pond and they play games twice a month as well as fishing a lot.

This is a bilingual Danish/English web site. FFF Europe certified instructor Morten Wadstrom includes the Zen of fly casting with his instruction. He has added worthwhile videos (moving pictures of casting strokes) and pictures to his discussion of casting and casting strokes. No other real moving pictures of casting strokes have been discovered on the web. If you find any please let us know.
qq. JIM CHAPRALIS ON TOURNAMENT CASTING
Jim Chapralis, who has operated a fishing travel business in the Chicago area for many moons, is an old time tournament caster- I have found his name in tournament results from the early fifties - and he has received space in the Fly Anglers On Line website for a complete round of instruction for beginning the enjoyment of Dry Fly, Trout Fly, Bass Bug, Angler's Fly Distance, Single Hand Fly Distance, the double haul and a practice regime for making your fly rod a pal instead of a stranger. We must thank Jim and Deanna Birkholm for making this available as a permanent ( we hope) archive on their comprehensive and outspoken FLY ANGLERS ON LINE . There are some good picture sequences of the double haul.
rr. ARKANSAS FLY ANGLERS CASTING FORUM
This is an interesting question and answer forum on casting subjects and is a part of the Arkansas Fly Anglers website. One warning - if you are on the casting forum and elect to see the rest of the site you need to find the FFM forum button to get back. There is an associated general forum by John W. Wilson that is worth watching and tends to deal with casting subjects.
ss. FLOYD DEAN is a leading tournament caster who is also an FFF master certified casting instructor. His page features an ongoing stream of his published and unpublished articles covering aspects of casting as well as a schedule of his casting demonstrations at sports shows and fishing related events around the country.tt. BRITISH FLY CASTING CLUB is a newly launched (2003) club for freshwater casting enthusiasts. The club conducts and promotes fly rod casting games, including single and double hand distance games and accuracy games and will be posting news on it's website.

vv. NEW ZEALAND FISHING has one of the best short description of the vital elements of the basic casting stroke that I have seen. It is worth reading and saving no matter what your level of accomplishment may be. It has been up for some time and I have no idea why it has taken this long to post this.
ww. VIRTUAL FLY CASTING is a comprehensive exposition of fly casting techniques, teaching methods and technical information on fly casting topics from academics and other experts. It is hosted by three FFF certified casting instructors and is one of the most elaborate pure casting sites on the web with very little, if any, commercial activity. There are film clips of casting , a bulletin board and lots more casting related stuff.
