Tips from GranGran
I'm receiving so many eMails with questions on various subjects, that I decided
to put this page up to answer some of them. Now, remember, I'm far from being
an expert...I'll just tell you what works for me.
What is a URL?
URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is the address of a web page - like http://and
whatever follows that. Just in case you're wondering HTTP stands for
"HyperText Transport Protocol."
How do I save a graphic?
Click on the graphic you want to save with your right mouse button. A box will
come up. Select Save As. Remember where you saved it so you can find it
later. (This works with Internet Explorer and I think Netscape Navigator works
basically the same.)
I saved a graphic, but now I can't find it.
If you know the name of the file, you can click on the Start button, then Find,
then Files or Folders and type in the name and that will tell you where it is
saved.
How can I save all my graphics to where I can find them easily?
You can make a folder on your hard drive and always save to that folder. To
make the folder click on Start, Programs, Windows Explorer, then click on your
main drive (usually C:\) At the top left of the screen, you will see the word
File. Click on it, then New, then Folder. Name the folder whatever you like.
Can I save the music that is on a web page?
Yes. To save a midi file to your hard drive, right click on the music
player and select Save As.
But remember, if the person who did the music is listed, take that information
also in
order to give proper credit.
How can I find a specific song I want to use?
I have found these sites very helpful:
Searching the Internet for a Certain Midi File
vanBasco's MIDI Search
The Midi Studio Consortium
again, remember to give credit to the sequencer
How can I put music on a web page?
This is the code I use. I think I remember reading that doing it this way
assures that it works with both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
Remember to upload the midi file to your server.
<br><br><embed src="Name of Midi.mid" autostart="true"
loop="true"><noembed><bgsound src="Name of Midi.mid"
loop="infinite"></noembed>
How do I put a calling card in a guestbook?
Save the card to your computer, then upload to your server. This is the code
to use:
<br><br><center><a
href="http://www.yourserver.com/YourHomePageURL"><img
src="http://www.yourserver.com/YourHomePageURL/NameOfImage.jpg (or .gif)
border="0"></a><center>
