And after dinner, a stroll on the Ku'damm.  Time passed quickly and then it was late.

The Bahnhofsvorplatz -- the plaza in front of Zoo Station -- is quiet, with only a handful of passengers waiting for the Nachtwagen, the Owl bus.

Lights of the Europa Center cast a modern glow on West Berlin's new "downtown."


At 0135, the last U-Bahn trains are rumbling beneath Wittenbergplatz.

It's 0135 hours and at this moment the last U-Bahn trains to the British and American forces "home" districts are meeting beneath these streets at Wittenbergplatz.


For those who missed the last trains and for those who found the late night streets too quiet, night life continued indoors:

Eden'sclubs offered Americans a taste of Berlin nightlife.
























Neue Welt offered sturdier entertainment than the Eden clubs.








Hilton Hotel - purported to be where the CIA met the KGB.



Saskatchewan club - an exotic name that amused people who had been to Canada's prairie province.
