EYE-HAND COORDINATION

The video Developmental Components of Eye-Hand Coordination in the Child with Special Needs (1996) (55 minutes. V21P: $95. V21R: $47.50.) is correlated with the chapter "Eye-hand coordination" in the book Development of Hand Skills in the Child, available from the American Occupational Therapy Association (800) 729-2682.

This video demonstrates how vision and prehension assessments are used to determine missing component of eye-hand skills in a preschool child with cerebral palsy. Treatment ideas and implications for function in home and school environments are discussed with the child and his parents during the assessment process. Finally, an example of intervention in a novel community context is illustrated by consultation at a children's museum.
