Hotel/Motel Name - Most motels listed are located directly on rail lines, many with a view of the tracks from at least some of the rooms.  Motels are constantly changing names and ownership.  Current known name is given, but if a change has been made and the new name is not known, the old name is shown in parenthesis.  (B&B) indicates a bed and breakfast type accomodation.

Address - specific street addresses are shown where known.  Other location information such as interstate exit number is shown where address is not known.

Highway - The closest officially numbered Interstate, U.S., state or provincial highway to the property is listed.  For the most part, the property is located directly on this highway or at an interchange of this highway.

Railroad - All railroads in view from the motel are shown.  Where known, (Trackage Rights) are in parenthesis and [Haulage Rights] are in brackets.  Amtrak is shown only when it is the owning railroad.  Most of the motels listed are located on primary main lines with heavy traffic, though not all.  Please consult a current U.S. Railroad Traffic Atlas to verify railroad names and traffic density.
