WITH THE SHELL ON OUR BACK

Week 54

An early out of Red Bluff, and off to the last of our 43 National Parks. Not many people can say they have seen all 43 of our Parks in the 48 states. The only Parks we are mssing are American Samoa and the 7 parks in Alaska. We have seen both of the Hawaii parks and the one in St. Johns, VI. Plus we have seen over 40 over the more than 300 Monuments, Seahores, Historical Parks, etc. A wonderful momory bank in our storehouse.

Lassen Volcanic National Park is a study in how St. Helens will probably look in 50 or so years. Lassen last erupted in 1915 and has been recovering since then. It was really a gorgeous day today as we drove around it and got a glimpse of a couple of the trails. Another park that would be good for some serious hiking but today was not the time, as we were bound for Grants Pass and our last night on the road.

On the way, we got to see Lake Shasta and Mt. Shasta -- two more gems in this part of the country. The Rolling White House just chugged right over those passes -- like, it too was anxious to get home. Little does it know, that we are going to sell it!

Our last night was a remembrance of our first night, exactly 1 year and 1 week -- June 3, 2000 & June 10, 2001 -- and we were back in the campground we started out in! It was neat, we toasted, reminesced, and began to look forward to what would come next in our lives. Truly the Great American Adventure.
