Photo by: Sarah - Milwaukee, WI This species is easily overlooked yet extremely common in nearly all saltwater tanks with live rock. It is only about the size of a nickel or quarter when full grown. A popular scavenger, its arms are sometimes seen waving out of the sediment. This species is a simultaneous hermaphrodite that broods its young. One of the most common brittlestars on the planet, it has managed to colonize a wide variety of habitats, from the intertidal to the deep sea, and from the tropics to colder water seas.
