Coffman 2008
2008 turned out to be a very busy and eventful year - with several nice
highs and some sad lows. Kari graduated High School as the
Valedictorian, and was able to take a 17 day tour/trip throughout
Europe during the summer. She then started at Georgetown
University this past Fall, and is enjoying many of the things that the
Washington, DC area has to offer. During high school she had
outstanding seasons in Cross-Country, Winter Track, and Spring Track
including: setting several school records in XC. This included
running a 19:36 for the fastest 3.2 mile time, placing 7th
overall in the State Sectionals, and helping the team to
the 3rd place finish - their highest ever. In winter track she
was 2nd in the County Championships in the 800m, and then won the State
Sectionals with a 5:17 in the 1600m. During Spring Track she
anchored the 4x1600m and 4x800m relay teams to place 2nd and 3rd at the
County Relays, and then placed 2nd in the County individuasl in the
1600m, and placed 3rd in the State Sectionals in the 1600m with a 5:14
time.
Tom is currently a sophomore at high school, and just received his
learner's permit/driving license, which his mother is not "overly"
thrilled about. He still enjoys playing the drums,
roller-coasters, video games, hanging out with friends, and shooting
pool. In fact, he's just about convinced his mother he should be
getting his own pool table down in the basement. (Of course, he's
not having much luck talking her into letting him get a motorcycle, but
one step at a time.)
(You can see Brian, Kari, Tom and Becky outside of Madeline (the nice
French restaruant) - in NYC -
after seeing "Spamalot" on Broadway back in January of 2008).
Below this you can see Missy-Mutt and Bo-Dog resting in the house.

The sad news this year is that we lost both Bo-Dog (very unexpectedly)
and Penny (Dad's cat) this past year.
Throughout the year we seemed to stay busy with a LOT of bike riding, a
very nice (scuba) dive season (including another trip up to the St.
Lawrence Seaway in Canada), a whole lot of roller coaster rides (at Six
Flags), a couple of broadway plays, just a ton of track and
cross-country meets, some excellent rock and ice climbing (despite
Kerry missing 8 weeks due to a sprained MCL), a very nice ski season
(Kerry even broke down and finally got a pair of new fancy shaped
skis), a lot of hikes, and even numerous trips/visits down to the
Georgetown area.
Below we can see a couple of photos taken during Kari's European trip
during the summer. In the first shot most of the group are sort
of under the Eiffel Tower, and in the 2nd shot you can see Kari on a
damp day in London.

Above you can see a picture of the EHS track teams after their last
team meet of 2008. Below you an see Tom on one of our bike rides
through Piscataway.

The shot below is a nice shot of Missy-Mutt enjoying a stroll on the
beach at Sandy Hook!!

In this next shot you can see Kerry and several (Sue, Don and Gary) of
the MUD (Metuchen Underwater Divers) at our ski trip up to Okemo
(Vermont) last season

In the first shot below you an see Kerry climbing up at the Gunks (New
York) during the Fall (he was mid-way on a climb called Wrist ... and
this was actually on Halloween Day), and in
the next shot you can see Kerry standing on Chapel Pond (in the
Adirondacks) back in Feburary on 2008, during one of his ice climbing
trips.

Looking below you can see Tom at one of our local pool
halls, and next to that picture is a view of Kerry diving one of the
wrecks in the St. Lawrence Seaway (Chris, of MUD, took this particular
shot).

Lastly, there is of course our annual (2008) Christmas 'toon.
