Like every year, it seems like I don't get in nearly enough climbing.
That is probably true, but in hindsight I did manage
to get out several times and actually did get the chance to climb with
several folks including many for the
first time. Although this the list is not complete, it included
Matt, Emily, Karine, Jen, Susan, Rhea, and Suhda. I also threw in
some pictures of Eric back in late 2001, just for good measure.
Believe or not, I still have one roll of film that I need
to get developed, so hopefully, I'll be able to add a couple of additional
pics fairly soon.
I also had the opportunity to climb twice in October out in Joshua Tree
(out in California), and had some great climbing there.
Above is a view of Joshua Tree taken atop a very classic 5.8 climb call
Sail Away. Click the picture to
get over to the J-Tree page.
The above two pictures were taken while climbing with Matt one day.
The one on the left is the upper pitch of Layback (over in
the Near Trapps up at the Gunks). What the picture doesn't show
is just how SPOOKY the first pitch was that day. It had rained
a bit that night, and the opening face of the first pitch looked a
bit damp. Now you need to get up about 20 feet before you can get
the first piece in. Once I got up about 10 or so feet,
it turned out that the face was exceedingly slick and slimey!!! It
turned an easy
pitch of face climbing into ... how shall I say it ... VERY interesting
climbing. The picture to the right shows the infamous Shockley's
Ceiling!!!!
On the left is a sight you don't see every day: There was a lady
(while on belay) reading the NY Times will in the middle of
Raubenheimer Special a neat little 5.6 at the Gunks). On the
right is a picture of Matt getting ready to start the Arrow rappel!!
I also had the opportunity in day last summer to climb with Emily and
Karine. The above shot to the left shows Emily on a
climb called Betty, and the pictujre to the right shows the three of
us. Below is picture of Miss Rhea. Even at her
age she
has both good tastes in shoes, and knows its best to wear a helmet!!!

Finally, I've included a couple of pictures I took of Master Eric.
These sat in my camera for a LONG time and I didn't get them
developed into 2002, so I guess its OK to put them on this page.
The first one shows Eric on the Dangler (OK, OK he's actually
leading Three Pines but he's at The Dangler), while the second shot
shows him rappeling!!
