Coffman - Adirondack
Summer trip of 2005
Once again we headed up to the Adirondacks in August for a family
vacation. It ended up being a excellent vacation, and the kids
seemed to have
a great time. This time we stayed at a different B&B:
Mountain Meadows, and the lower right picture shows the kids playing
"frisbee" (OK just
a giant flying disk) at the B&B. Kerry was able to sneak out
one day for some rock climbing, and on that day the rest of the folks
took several
side trips, and found out that most of New England (especially Vermont)
seems to close EARLY on weekdays. There is a gorgeous stream with
several great swimming holes just behind the B&B, and the kids
spent a LOT of time swimming, wading, diving, trudging, and playing
there. The
lower left picture shows Tom getting something out of "his" shoe
(actually he was
wearing Dad's shoes as he trudged in the creek).

One day the entire family took a nice hike up to Owl's Head. This
moderate hike is one of the best bang for the buck hikes in the Daks -
great
views with only a minimal of huffing and puffing. One of the
lower pictures shows Tom, Kari and Beck at the top of Owl's Head (note
the windy
conditions up there). The Mountain Meadows was a great place to
stay. In one of the bedrooms we had there was a great print of
one of
Wyeth's more famous paintings, and since it reminded us of one of our
dogs I couldn't resist putting it here.

In addition, we had a great horse back ride at Bark Eaters, and the
below shot shows Kari, Tom, and Becky on their trusty steeds.
The other photo shows Becky out on the deck of the Mountain Meadows
B&B. For those of us that actually got up
and ate breakfast each morning, there were quite a few "interesting"
guests and some
lively and fascinating conversations over breakfast.
There were also several meals (and of course a LOT of ice cream) at the
Noonmark, and we also found a very nice pizza place between
Keene Valley and Lake Placid (which included some nice Frisbee tossing
while waiting for the food).

As mentioned earlier, Kerry also was able to squeeze in one day
of rock climbing
while we were up in Keene Valley.
