FILM-WHICH BRAND IS BEST?

Recently we replaced our almost 20 yr old camera with a new one and I started asking the photo processing people, and professional photographers, which brand of film was the best. The first place I checked told me that Kodak is better if you are taking photos of things that are mostly red & yellow, and Fuji is better for blues & greens. The easy way to remember is to use the color of the boxes. Now I just got back my Kodak pics and the blues look great to me, so I am trying a Fuji roll to compare. But I called 6 different photo processors/professional photographers & asked them about this comparison and 4 out of the 6 said they had heard it before & considered it true. So check it out and in the meantime, POST IT...by your camera.

ARE THE SAVINGS WORTH THE TRIP?

A lot of people spend a lot of time going from bargain store to bargain store to get those great savings on a few items here and there, but is it really worth the trip. Recently a news article said that the average car costs about 30 cents/mile to drive. This figures in not only gas, but also insurance, maintenance, and wear & tear. So will you be saving more than 30 cents/mile and is whatever you are saving really worth it? Can you combine trips to make it worthwhile? Check it out, you may find shopping at one store ends up saving you more. And while we are on the subject, if your car will be idling for 1 minute or more, then you should turn off the engine for added savings. POST IT...on your shopping list & on your dash.

ABUSERS-IS THERE ONE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD?

It is now a federal law that the public has to have access to information on any abusers living in their neighborhoods. You can now go to one main web site and if your state has a site to check the info, then their will be a link. If there isn't a site, then there will be a phone number to call, OR you can call your local police station to find out how to get the info.  There is little that bothers me more than to see an apt complex where an abuser lives, with young children waiting alone for the school bus. And while you are at it, don't forget to check the neighborhoods of family & friends where your child might also play. Go to http://www.prevent-abuse-now.com/register.htm POST IT...by your computer.

EXERCISE & VITAMIN TIP

For those of you who checked it out after my last mention http://www.realage.com is a wonderful health & fitness site. I signed up for their daily tips of the day, which have been very informative. One thing the doctors recommend in their book, "Real Age", is taking 500mg of vitamin C, 400 IU of vitamin E, and one adult aspirin one to two hours before you exercise. The E & aspirin are the daily doses they recommend, the C part of the recommended dose. I noticed a huge difference when I started taking them before a workout. I notice that I feel better during & after the workout than I did before I started taking the combination. So check with your doctor & give it a try. POST IT...near your workout clothes/equipment.

"BACK ISSUE TREASURES"-CLERGY APPRECIATION MONTH

The "Back Issue Treasures" will be a new feature in each issue where we highlight a back issue article that you might find helpful. In this case, it is a reminder that Clergy Appreciation Month is October and Clergy Appreciation Sunday is the 2nd Sunday of the month. For more great ideas on how to make this a special time for your pastor, chaplain, etc (and believe me they need a lot more encouragement than they ever get) check out our Sept 15th, 1998 issue. Send an email with "MAN-001" in the subject or body of the message to make-a-note-issues@xc.org. BTW, "MAN", in case you didn't figure it out, stands for Make A Note.:-) POST IT...by your computer, then on your calendar.

"BACK ISSUE TREASURES"-CHRISTMAS PREP LIST (CLARIFICATION)

Apparently there was a lot of confusion on finding the back issues. My fault, I should have explained things a little better. For issues from 6/99 until the present, you can just visit the web site at http://www.egroups.com/group/make-a-note. For issues PRIOR to 6/99 you need to send a BLANK Email to make-a-note-issues@hub.xc.org. When you do this, you should receive an index of back issue table of contents. There will also be directions on how to request the particular issues by email.

So send off that blank email and when you get the index of back issues, scroll down to the Aug. 15th, 1998 issue and follow the directions to get that issue. Same with the Clergy Appreciation Issue above, by the way. For this particular issue, send an email with "MAN-003" in the subject or body of the message to make-a-note-issues@xc.org. POST IT...by your computer, then on your fridge.

JOKE (from Robert P.)

"A husband, proving to his wife that women talk more than men, showed her a study which indicated that men use on the average only 15,000 words a day, where as women use on average 30,000 a day. She thought about this for a while and then told her husband that women use twice as many words as men because they have to repeat everything they say. He said, "What?" :-)

QUOTE

"If I, under any set of circumstances, presume to question God-not to query, mind you, but to question-then, whether I want to or not, I may be tacitly implying any one or perhaps all of the following: 1. I really don't deserve such treatment, being the good and innocent person that I am. 2. God is neither holy nor just, since He is treating me so unfairly. 3. If God were omniscient, He would know that it is a mistake to make me go through this situation. 4. Perhaps God is not omnipotent & can't prevent such suffering. 5. I deserve an answer, and God ought to respond immediately to my satisfaction. 6. I'll be able to understand God's answer, no matter what it is, and I reserve the right to reject it if I deem it to be inadequate. 7. I don't have to submit to God's sovereignty & providence unless I understand the need for this to happen to me."
