PRESIDENTIAL GREETINGS

The White House will send out FREE Presidential Greetings, and while some administrations may be more desirable than others, it is always a nice thing for a remembrance book or other special occasions. They will send them out for the following events: Birthdays (80 yrs old and older), Anniversaries (50 yrs and more), Baby Congratulations, Wedding Congratulations, Get Well, Sympathy, Graduations (High School and College), and Retirement. Send the RECIPIENT'S name, address and date of event (it is ok if you just know the month and year) AND the REQUESTOR'S name, address, and phone number to:

PRESIDENTIAL GREETINGS

THE WHITE HOUSE

GREETINGS OFFICE RM 39

WASHINGTON DC 20500-0001

On events where date is known in advance, send 1 month before event, otherwise ASAP. Receiver will not know who requested the card, they just receive it. By the way, the people who do this at the White House are volunteers and this has been going on since (at least) the Reagan administration.

STAMPS BY MAIL

Hate the long post office lines? Ask your mail carrier (or pick one up at your local post office) for the Stamps By Mail form. You fill out the order form, write a check, put it in your mail box and you are supposed to receive the stamps in 5 working days. Do not think this is available at APO's, but you could check.

JUNGLE ROT

For those not in the military, this is a more colorful name for foot fungus, like athlete's foot. Instead of spending your money on all the over the counter stuff, try this easy fix, it has worked very well for many. After showering at home, wipe your feet or pour over them some Apple Cider Vinegar, then use corn starch for foot powder if you use that kind of thing. The acidic nature of the vinegar kills the fungus. You should start to see an improvement almost immediately, but you need to keep using it for a few weeks after the symptoms start to go away to make sure it is completely gone. Also give your feet as much air as possible, go barefoot. And check with your doctor. :-)

LAUNDRY STUFF (Vinegar Part 2)

If you add 1/2C Baking Soda to your wash (or use Arm and Hammer Detergent, that already has baking soda in it), and 3/4C White Vinegar to your rinse you will be able to almost completely eliminate the use of pre-treatments like Spray n Wash or Shout. I rarely use them anymore. I have never come across ANYTHING that was ever harmed by this treatment, it does not make your clothes smell like vinegar, and it also will often get rid of colors that have bled onto other clothes. Also I don't have to worry about separating colors & whites when I use this treatment, it gets it all clean. In fact, it seems to get all the clothes a lot cleaner. TIMESAVER NOTE: use the washer as a hamper and when it is full just start it. Hate folding clothes (I do!) save laundry night for a night that has TV shows on that you enjoy and fold it while you are watching them, it makes it relatively painless.

GASOLINE

Fill up in the morning when the gasoline is cool and condensed and you will be able to get more gas for the money. As the warmth of the sun warms it up, it expands. A study found that you could save about $50 (regular unleaded) a year doing this.

BEST GROCERY SHOPPING TIMES

For all grocery stores with regular hours (not open 24 hrs), especially the commissary...try going the hour or 1 1/2 hours before they close on weekdays. There is rarely a line and if there is a line, it is usually shorter than it would be at other times. Also going at night you can leave the kids home with dad and get done faster. Have to go during the day? Arrive about 45 min before the elementary schools let out, most moms are rushing home to tend to their kids. Most elementary schools let out around 2pm.

Some of the information I pass on may be familiar to you, but hopefully some will be new AND useful. If you would like to be added to the "mailing" list, send a REPLY with the MAKE A NOTE in the subject and write ADD. If you ever want to be removed, then send me a REMOVE note.

If you would like me to cover any subject at all, just ask and I will do what I can. If you have something that you think would be nice to include, then send it to me. Make-A-Note@worldnet.att.net

COMING ATTRACTIONS....People Finder web sites, medical research the easy way, freebies, organization tips, security helps-home & personal.

God Bless, Sharon
