Record TV Programs for Later Viewing

It's happened to all of us, we're just sitting down to watch our favorite show. The phone rings and you have to take the call. Sometimes you try watching the program at the same time, which only distracts you & makes the call go longer. Or the program comes on near your children's bedtime/playtime, and you don't want to make them feel rushed, shorted, or be constantly hushing them. And let's admit it, sometimes when you get your heart set on watching a show & are interrupted, you feel frustrated & sometimes impatient with those around you, and you certainly don't enjoy the show. Why not just use your VCR or DVR and record the show for later, of course Tivo is also great for this. Just give up trying to watch that program at that rushed time, and record it to watch later. For unexpected interruptions, have a tape in the VCR ready to record, and if you get that phone call or knock at the door, just hit record. TV should never take priority over our family & friends, but with a little preparation you can enjoy them both. Or like me, you could save the shows for when you have to do mindless chores near the TV...workouts, housework, paperwork.

Rent or Rent Out an RV

If you would like to experience an RV, but aren't ready to buy one, check into renting one. First, ask your friends that own one if they rent theirs out. If not, then check with your local RV store (check the yellow pages); often places that sell used RVs have renting programs. If you own an RV and would like to earn a little money when you aren't using it, then let the friends & family you trust know that you are willing to rent it out. If you're really brave, then you can also see about renting to strangers. According to some RV sites, if you rent less than 2 weeks a year, then you don't have to report the income. If you rent more than that, you can deduct for expenses & depreciation. But be sure to check with your own tax expert to see what applies in your area.

POST IT...with your RV, or under "Travel Agents" if you don't own one.

Recipe: Dressing Up Canned Soup

Fall & winter are the best time of year for an easy soup dinner. But does canned soup seem too plain for a dinner? It doesn’t have to be. Buy a can or two of your favorite soup, then add some fresh chopped vegetables or larger chunks of meat. An easy way to do it, is to add more of what is already in the soup. So if you make chicken noodle, you could add chunks of celery, carrots, chicken, or even fancy noodles. You could add cheese to potato soup, along with some carrots & celery to make Potato Cheese. You could place a big chunk of jack cheese on the bottom of each bowl of French Onion soup, float a piece of garlic toast on top, to serve it restaurant style. Don't be afraid to experiment and add your own seasonings as well. They'll think you made it from scratch. Serve with a salad and crusty rolls on the side. Also great for taking a meal to those recovering from illness.
