About The Tartan Heirs

In 1978 Gibson and Marjorie McKenzie founded the Tartan Heirs to perpetuate Scottish heritage.  The Tartan Heirs have carried Scottish traditions to many arenas, from Highland games to churches and schools. We offer classes, exhibitions and workshops in traditional Scottish country dancing.

We are an international affiliate of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society of Edinburgh, Scotland.  In addition to performing at regional Highlands Games, we also perform for local festivals, church congregations, school groups and private parties.   We have performed for the Lord and Lady Macdonald, Lord and Lady Urquhart, Lord and Lady Forbes of Scotland, Her Britannic Majesty's Consul General, David Wright, and the British Embassy in Orlando, Florida.

Our group's members attend regional Highland Games in Huntsville, Al, Jasper, Al, Montgomery, Al, Atlanta, Ga, Nashville, Tn, Gatlinburg, Tn, Glasgow, KY, Grandfather Mountain, NC and Jackson ,MS.
