BEACON
LIGHTS NEVER GO DIM
In Memory of
Illustrious Brother Joseph A. Walkes Jr.
Between
Oceans and Seas, over Mountains and Hills
Through the pastures of grass, all the valley’s stood still
It was rocks of all sizes, some so great to describe,
Through the quarries of stones, only one could survive
From one grain of beach sand, it seemed tiny indeed
It became to polished from what mirrors would be
A reflection of greatness, from sun’s light ricochet
Even midnight is brighten from the truth he conveyed
Recognized as a scholar, but some had no real clue Also known as a
researcher, telling history’s truth
Oh yes there was friction that some minds could not see
The miraculous vision, a historian’s plea
Digging deeper and deeper, chipping aggressively at rough
stones
As the artist’s true vision becomes reality atoned
Teaching old and the youth, sacrificing himself
Realizing the loneliness saving every one else
So a Chapter is closed in his endless eternal book
Understanding eternity is a mirror to look
Reflection is powerful so long you can see
Become the Joe Walkes, the one you can be
