Edward Kemp arrived in the Massachusetts Bay Colony sometime in 1637, probably into Boston. On 13 March 1638, he was administered the Freeman's Oath in Boston. Edward was a blacksmith by trade, and the smaller and newer townships further inland had a dire need for his profession. On 27 September 1638, Edward moved to Dedham, Mass. He became a member of the church in Dedham on 11 October 1639.
In the spring of 1652, Edward left Dedham, moving to Wenham, located about 25 miles north of Boston. In November 1655, he moved to Chelmsford, where he lived until his death in 1668.
