Disney/Orlando 2003
Once again we made our trek down to the land of the Mouse in late August.
This year the kids seemed to really enjoy Epcot (and the many different
pavilions and varying country exhibits) more than in the past. We also
had the chance to get in two days of water skiing/tubing, which ended up
being a blast. It was the first time the kids had the opportunity to
water ski. We again stayed at the Polynesian within Disney World, and
also did two partial days at Universal/Islands of Adventure.
It's become sort of a tradition that we eat breakfast at a certain IHOP
(near the Orlando airport) on Sunday morning before we actually
drive into the land of the Mouse. Below we see Becky and Tom getting
ready to order.
Speaking of food, below are some pictures from a variety of restaurants
including Chef's Micky, a chocolate Moose at the Canadian restaurant at Epcot,
Goofy and Tigger at a couple of the nice restaurants within the Magic Kingdom,
and the family eating at the 50's drive in at Disney/MGM. Also stuck
in there is a view
from the steam/paddle boat as it was circling Tom Sawyer's island .... it
looked like our Tom wrote something about his Mom.
One of the highlights of that year's trip was the two days of water skiing/wake
boarding. You can see Kari in front of the Contemporary
Hotel on skis, and then you can see her on the wake board. There is
also a nice shot of Tom getting up on the wake board.
There is also a little bit of photographic record that even old and decrepit
folks can water ski a bit. There's Kerry sweeping to
the outside of the boat, and he even managed a smile of sorts as he was getting
back into the boat..
Nevertheless, I think it was the tubing that the kids seemed to enjoy the
most, as evidence by a couple of the crashing pictures.
In fact we didn't need a ski boat to get wet. We just needed the RipSaw
ride at Islands of Adventure (Becky and the kids are
modeling the post RipSaw look). We also went to Cirque du Soleil
again.
and yes if you look at the last picture you can see Kerry's red cap that
just got blown off by the wind.
