The Sprint Center is the spanking new arena in Kansas City, Missouri. The 18,500 seat facility was funded by a hotel room and car rental fee voted on by KC voters in 2004. The project cost $276 million. The company that will manage the arena, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), also contributed $50 million to the project. The Sprint Center opened with a sold out Elton John concert to be followed up by many more concert events (9 sold out Garth Brooks concerts) and sporting events, including the CBE Classic and the Big 12 championship.
