1 Jacob Janse Gardenier b: Abt. 1616 in Kampen, Overijsel, Holland d: Abt. 1688; occupation: carpenter or millwright; son of Jan Gardenier of Holland; He immigrated to New Amsterdam on the ship den Harinck arriving 28 March 1638. He purchased land on the North side from William to Pearl Street (Wall Street). He was one of the first Dutch settlers to live at Fort Orange in Beverwyck, later known as Albany, NY.
