J. Eric Taylor's Family History PageFamily, Summer 1952

Page created 28 June 1996. Updated 13 January 2003.
Although I was raised in Montana and now reside in Seattle, Washington, I was born in Kansas into a family with multigenerational ties to that state. As a result, I have always had a particular fondness for Kansas and have looked there first in search of my roots. Over time, my curiosity about my family origins broadened beyond the borders of Kansas, and even America, through my exposure to local history and ethnic heritage in my career as a museum exhibit designer. My marriage to the daughter of German immigrants and the subsequent exploration of her family history reinforced my desire to uncover my own ethnic roots.

In the spring of 1993, I began seriously researching the branches of my family tree. In 1995, I completed the certificate program in Genealogy and Family History at the University of Washington Extension. My research paper for that course, The Life Altering Decisions of Joseph Dvorak and Francis Zvolanek, has been published on the Web as an article in the Kansas Collection. My thanks go to Dick Taylor (no relation, I think), who maintains the site as part of the Kansas Heritage Server.

In the hope of connecting with other family historians, who may be researching similar lines, I have included the following list of surnames associated with my family tree and that of my wife, Cassandra. Each highlighted name is linked to a multi-generational descendant chart for the earliest known ancestor of that family.

Eric's family surnames:CHESELDINE, COX, CROCKER, DVORAK, EBERSOLE, HILDENBRAND, HOLLIDAY, MALIN, MCDONALD, MINCH, RESER, TAYLOR, VOLAVKA, ZVOLANEK

Cassandra's family surnames:BAUER, BRECHER, GEORG, GWILDIS, HAAS, MÜLLER, REEH, ROMPF, STAHL
