THE GODHEAD

Introduction:
     1. There is much misunderstanding concerning the "Godhead."
     2. I believe that the Godhead is composed of:
          (a) God -- the Father
          (b) God -- the Son
          (c) God -- the Holy Spirit.
          (d) Thus, three persons in the Godhead.
     3. There are those who believe and teach that there only one
person in the Godhead. They teach that Jesus is only the
manifestation of the Father; He just appears in a
different form. Likewise, the Holy Spirit is the Father in
        yet another form.
     4. What does God's Word teach on this important subject??

BODY:
  I. GOD IS ONE GOD:
     1. Deut 6:4. God's word clearly teaches that God is one. One
God in contrast to the many gods of heathenism and
        idolatry.
     2. The word is not a "numerical one" but a unified one.
     3. Can two people or persons be one?
     4. Obviously they can. Jesus states that husband and wife are
        one -- Matthew 19:5
     5. Jesus prayed that all believers might be ONE.
     6. Not one person, but one in unity.

 II. Chart -- John 17:20-23.

God --- Father ONE "In me"
          God --- Son "In thee"

          Believer ------
          Believer ------
          Believer ------ ONE "In Us"
          Believer ------
          Believer -----

          End, Tackle, Guard
          Guard, Center ONE Team
          Q. Back, W. Back
          H. Back, Safety, etc.

AIM DESIRES PURPOSES PLAN AGREEMENT WORDS

     1. God the Father and Jesus the Son are ONE, just as all
        believers are one "in Us."
     2. The same way that a Team is ONE. Not one person, but one
in aim, desire, purpose, plan, agreement, words, etc.

III. WORDS DEMANDING AT LEAST TWO:
     1. BOTH -- "The one and the other" -- 2 John 9
     2. ALONE -- "Apart from others, all by oneself - John 8:16-20
     3. EQUAL -- "Exactly the same" -- Phil. 2:5,6
     4. WITH -- "Relation of proximity" -- John 17:5
     5. SENT -- "To cause to go" -- Gal. 4:4
     6. AND --- "To join word with word, etc." -- John 10:30
     7. ANOTHER -- "Being one more in addition" -- John 14:16
     8. US --- "Objective case of we" -- John 17:21
     9. WE -- "Plural of I" -- John 17:11
    10. ALSO -- "In addition" -- John 14:7

 IV. Chart on John 17:21-23:
     "That they all may be ONE (not person); as Thou (one person);
Father, art in me and I (another person) in Thee (another
     person) may be ONE (not person) in us (more than one person);
that the world may believe that thou (one person) hast sent
me (another person). And the glory which thou (one person)
hast give me (another person) I have given them (many
persons); that they may be ONE (not person) even as we (more
than one person) are ONE (not person)."

  V. THREE PERSONS IN THE GODHEAD: (Triangle Chart)
     1. The Father is not the Son -- John 8:16.
     2. The Father is not the Holy Spirit -- John 14:26.
     3. The Father is God (Deity) -- John 20:17.
     4. The Son is not the Father -- John 8:16.
     5. The Son is not the Holy Spirit -- Acts 10:38.
     6. The Son is God (Deity) -- Heb. 1:8.
     7. The Holy Spirit is not the Father -- John 14:26.
     8. The Holy Spirit is not the Son -- Acts 10:38.
     9. The Holy Spirit is God (Deity) -- Acts 5:3-4.
    10. Thus the Godhead (Deity) is composed of God, the Father;
God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit.

 VI. PERSONS, not humans:
     1. When I say persons, I means entities, personalities.
     2. Not talking about human beings.

Conclusion:
     1. Truly, God is ONE. A united one.
     2. Show me where God, the Father, came from and I will show
you where God, the Son, came from.
