WHAT SHOULD THE YOUNG DO?

Introduction:
   1. I have presented seven lesson thus far which have been
directed specifically toward young people. Obviously, that
which is good for young people is also good for the older.
   2. The lessons have dealt with a number of different suggestions
as to what young people should be careful of, things which
should not be done; showing some wrong things in this life.
   3. Young men, young women, you are growing in knowledge, in
experience and becoming older each day in wisdom.
   4. In the present lesson I wish to notice: "What Should the
      Young Do?"

  I. THEY SHOULD WORK:
     1. Young People (as well as old) should be doing something.
     2. Be active.
     3. Both young and old like to play; to enjoy self.
     4. "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."
     5. Yet, too much play will make an unbalanced life and bring
        on deep regrets.
     6. Fortunate is the one who evaluates their time and
        activities properly.
     7. One who would follow Christ must learn TO DO:
Acts 1:1-5 -- Jesus DID and He TAUGHT.
Whether work or play, it should be wholesome.
     8. Notice Christ's early life -- Luke 2:40-52. What a great
        example.

II. SOME THINGS YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD DO:

     A. BE STRONG:
        1. 1 Kings 2:1-4 -- David charged his son Solomon. Be
           strong, show thyself a man.
        2. Ecc. 11:9--12:1 -- Rejoice in youth, in strength. Not
vain boasting of physical strength. There is a greater
           accomplishment than physical dexterity.
        3. Spiritual Strength is of greater importance.
        4. 2 Tim. 2:1-3 -- Be strong in the grace of Christ Jesus.
        5. To accomplish this, one must be know the teaching of
           Jesus.

     B. KEEP LIFE PURE:
        1. Ps. 119:9 -- Cleanse his way. Done by taking heed to the
             word of God.
        2. Prov. 4:20-27 -- Keep heart clean. Keep God's Word ever
             before you.
        3. Entertain clean thoughts, pure thoughts, and you will
thus speak clean thoughts, pure words.
        4. Entertain evil thoughts and you will speak evil.
        5. Prov. 3:1-7 -- Trust in the Lord. This may seem strange
to the world around us, yet one day you will see the
           value and power of it.
        6. Prov. 1:10 -- Flee from error. 2 Tim. 2:22; 3:1-7.
        7. Turn away, run from sin. The sign of strength is to flee
error, resist Satan and he will flee from thee.
        8. Young men -- do not take advantage of the young lady.
Treat them with dignity and honor.
        9. Help others to keep their lives pure and clean also.

     C. BE INDUSTRIOUS:
        1. Discussed this briefly earlier in study.
        2. Prov. 6:6-11 -- There is just no place in God's House
for an idle person. Look at the simple lesson of the
           ant. Ever working, ever busy.
        3. As a young person learn to keep busy, never be idle.

     D. STUDY YOUR BIBLE:
        1. God's Word should be a part of your life.
        2. Give time and attention to it.
        3. Prov. 3:1; 2 Tim. 2:15 -- Be diligent, study....
        4. We have a group of young people who are very diligent
           about their Bible study.
        5. Keep up the good work, continue to study....

     E. TAKE HOLD OF OPPORTUNITIES:
        1. Gal. 6:10 -- As individual Christians we should assist
           our fellow man where possible.
        2. Never be ashamed of God's Word.

Conclusion:
   1. Young People need to learn to serve God NOW, in youth.
   2. Serve your fellow man also.
   3. Put God first in your life now, and He will stay there as you
      grow older day by day.
   4. Young and old must do the same thing to become the child of
God. Obey the Gospel in the primary commandments and continue
to obey the Gospel each day that we live.
