JESUS WAS A MAN

Introduction:
   1. For several years now there has been some discussion with
relationship to the Humanity and Deity of Jesus Christ.
   2. Jesus was Deity before He came to earth, He was Deity while on
this earth and He will always be deity, as He has ascended
      back to the Father.
   3. All that we know about the Humanity and Deity of Christ is to
      be found in the Scriptures.
   4. In this lesson we look to the Humanity of Christ Jesus.

  I. THE SON OF MAN:
     1. This expression is found at least 80 times in N. T.:
        Mt. 12:40; Mk. 14:21; Lk. 9:22; John 5:27; Acts 7:56; etc.
     2. The "Son of David" is found a number of times: Mt. 1:1; Mk.
        12:35-37; Lk. 18:35-43, etc.
     3. The expression "the Son of God" is found 45 times: Mt. 4:3-
        6; Mk. 1:1; Lk. 1:35; John 1:34; Acts 9:20; Rom 1:4; etc.
     4. The Scriptures teach both the HUMANITY and the DEITY of
Jesus, the Son of God and the Son of Man.

II. "MADE IN LIKENESS OF MEN":
     1. Phil. 2:5-8.
     2. Jesus was not made in the likeness of angels. He was not
found in fashion as an angel.
     3. "In likeness and fashion as a man!!"

III. SENT IN THE LIKENESS OF SINFUL FLESH:
     1. Rom 8:3.
     2. Christ came in the flesh as all men do.
     3. Men in the flesh as tempted, so was Christ. Heb. 4:14-15.
     4. All accountable men have sinned, except Christ.
     5. Rom 3:23; 1 John 1:8-10.

IV. THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH:
     1. John 1:14.
     2. The ASV states, "became flesh."
     3. The New KJ states, "became flesh...."
     4. It isn't essential that we explain HOW the Word was made
flesh, but it is essential that we BELIEVE IT.

  V. JESUS WAS A MAN!!!
     1. John 1:30 -- "cometh a man...."
John was a great prophet, of those born of women, none
            greater. Mt. ll:7-13.
Was John deceived in thinking that Jesus was a man?
Or, was Jesus really a man???

     2. John 4:29 -- The Samaritan woman at the well referred to
Jesus as a man. "Come, see a man...."

     3. John 9:11 -- The blind man whom Jesus healed referred to Him
as a man. Cf. Jn. 9:33.

     4. John 9:16 -- The Pharisees referred to Jesus as a man.

     5. John 11:47 -- Chief Priests and Pharisees called Him a man.

     6. John 11:49-52; 18:14 -- Caiaphas, the high priest, referred
to Jesus as a "one man."

     7. Matt. 8:27 -- The disciples referred to Christ as "a man."

     8. John 18:17 -- The servant (girl) referred to Jesus as "a

    10. Luke 23:4 -- Pilate, the Roman ruler, said, "I find no fault
in this man." Vs. 6 -- "whether the man were a Galilean."
           Lk. 23:13-14; Jn. 18:29; 19:5.

    11. Mk. 15:39 -- The centurion referred to Jesus as "this man."
           Also, Luke 23:47.

    12. John 10:33 -- The Jews referred to Jesus as "being a man."

    13. John 8:40 -- Jesus referred to Himself as "a man."
Jesus was the SON OF GOD! Was He deceived in thinking
that He was "a man"? Or, was He truly "A MAN"???

    14. Just look at the preponderance of evidence and the variety
of those who referred to Jesus as "A MAN." From enemy to
friend, were they all deceived? Even Jesus Himself referred
        to Himself as "a man."
Did Jesus only appear to be man, did He only look like
"a man," or, was He truly "A MAN"???

   3. Jesus not only came in the likeness of men and was found in
the fashion as a man, but He was INDEED A MAN!
   4. The Scriptures so teach.
   5. He faced the same things which you face; He was tempted in the
same manner in which you a tempted; He suffered in the same
      likeness which you suffer.
   6. All of this to show us the way to the Father.
   7. 1 Pet. 2:21-25. He left us an example to follow. We must
