STEADFASTNESS

Introduction:
   1. Hebrews 3:14.
   2. What does it mean to be steadfast?
   3. Unmovable, firm, not carried about by every wind of doctrine;
      that which is steady.
   4. Built on the rock, the firm rock of Christ.
   5. How long is one to be steadfast?
   6. Three things in which one should be steadfast:

  I. BE STEADFAST IN OUR FAITH:  Heb. 11:1-6; Rom. 10:17; Col.
     1:23; Col. 2:5-7.

     A. Things which can happen to our faith:
        1. Faith can die -- Jas. 2:24.
        2. Can depart from it -- 1 Tim. 4:1-6.
        3. Faith can be shipwreck -- 1 Tim. 1:19.
        4. Can deny the faith -- 1 Tim. 5:8.
        5. Can cast off faith -- 1 Tim. 5:12.

     B. Ways to make faith stronger:
        1. Increase or add to our faith -- 2 Pet. 1:7-10.
        2. Contend for the faith -- Jude 3.
        3. Fight the good fight of the faith -- 2 Tim. 4:7.
        4. Keeping the faith -- 2 Tim. 4:7.

 II. BE STEADFAST IN THE DOCTRINE OF CHRIST:

     A. Early Christians -- Acts 2:42.
     B. Not steadfast in the doctrines of men -- Matt. 15:7-9.
     C. Continue in the teachings of Christ and the inspired
        apostles. No revelation other than theirs given to be
        guided by.
     D. The Father ---- Holy Spirit ---- Apostles ---- The Word.

III. BE STEADFAST IN THE WORK OF THE LORD:

     A. 1 Cor. 15:58.
     B. Not in the works of the flesh -- Gal. 5:19-22.
     C. In worship: Attendance, Singing, Lord's Supper, Giving,
        Teaching -- Heb. 10:25.
     D. Jas. 1:27 -- Doing Good, Unspotted from the world.

Conclusion:
     1. Heaven will be our home if we do these things.
     2. We must be steadfast IN the Lord.
     3. Only by remaining faithful until death do we have the
        promise of the crown of life. Rev. 2:10.
     4. May we all live a life of steadfastness!!!
