GOD'S SOLUTIONS
Introduction:
1. 2_Pet._1:3 --"all things that pertain to life and godliness"
2. It matters not what problem comes along, the knowledge of
God's word gives the solution, a lasting solution.
3. Consider some of the problems in the world today. Problems of
immense proportion and consequences.
I. AIDS
1. One of the more recent worldwide problems in our generation
is that of AIDS.
2. Millions being spent on the study of the cause, consequences,
and solutions.
3. A year or so ago, the government spent $6 million on a study,
finally reaching a decision and recommendation:
THE SOLUTION: one_man -- one_woman -- for life -- NO AIDS
4. Now, isn't that what God has been saying for 6000 years?
5. Mt 19:4-6; 1 Cor 7:39 --"Bound as long as husband liveth"
6. Adultery, Fornication has always been condemned by Jehovah.
7. Rom. 1:26-27 -- Homosexuals continue to practice SIN. And the
world's blessings and acceptance will never change what
God thinks about this sin. Even religious bodies have
put their stamp of approval--some even accepting Homo-
sexuals into their pulpits as preachers.
8. Much controversy--Yet God, long ago, gave the solution.
II. VIOLENCE;ÿRIOTS; SHOOTINGS, ETC.
1. Another plague upon us is the violence and shootings that
have erupted in our cities, all over the country.
2. Almost every day a senseless shooting occurs in our area,
drive by shootings (people unknown to the one shooting), love
triangle shootings, etc. Murder God condemned from beginning
3. The tragic action of many in Los Angeles a few week ago
emphasize the serious problem our nation is facing.
4. Is there any solution? Oh, yes!!!
5. Matt. 5:43-44--Love your enemies, pray for persecuters,etc.
The world says kill them, Murder in cold blood.
God says, "Thou shall not kill." Mt 5:21-22.
6. Rom 12:9-21--What a world this would be if everyone would
follow these commands.
7. No need for locks, no need for police, state patrol, etc.
8. Luke 23:34 --- "Father, forgive them...." Showed His
compassionate heart, forgiving disposition,
9. Rom 5:7-10--Died for enemies.
10. NOW, people defiantly stand and shoot each other.
11. Greed, selfishness, lawlessness---everywhere SIN, SIN, SIN
III. ADDICTION PROBLEMS:
1. Alcohol has been a menace from the beginning of time and
continue to plague mankind.
2. Along with this abuse comes many evils.
3. Gal 5:21; 1 Cor. 6:10
4. Brother Cathey had an excellent lesson in the adult study
while he was with us in the recent meeting on the subject of
alcohol and its consequences.
5. Closely related, with some of the same problems and
consequences is DRUG ABUSE AND DRUG DEPENDENCY.
6. All types of evil and wickedness done to support the drug
habit--hundreds of dollars daily, gained from stealing, etc.
IV: BROKEN HOMES:
1. Perhaps the greatest problem we have as a nation is that of
broken homes and the even greater tragedy--fatherless and/or
motherless children.
2. Children who are forced to raise themselves.
3. Note what the Lord says; Eph. 6:1-4-- The solution to the
rebellious generation around us.
4. Eph. 5:22-31--The solution to Marriage problems.
5. But, mankind comes along and in his and/or her selfishness
(You know, we have to have our own way). And FORGIVENESS has
become a lost art.
6. Col. 3:18-21--God's ways are correct.
7. Col. 3:12-14--in every situation----this will work
V. ATTITUDES:
1. Look at the passage above --- Col. 3:5-11
2. Paul discusses the old man, the man of sin, the path wherein
they once walked.
3. Note what was (and is) to be put away.
4. How many of today's problems are caused by: anger, wrath,
malice, railing, shameful speaking out of the mouth; lying
one to another...."?
5. The world is filled with people who have no restraints in
anger, wrath, malice---their hearts are filled with these...
6. If all respected God's revealed truths there would be no
shameful speaking or lying, etc.
7. Jas. 3:1-10--the tongue must be controlled, especially by
those who are His children.
8. Note -- this passage removes racial tensions and hatreds,
In Christ are all ONE.
Conclusion:
1. There is no way in a few minutes like this that we can
discuss all of the problems in the world today, but these are
a few of the more severe and all-encompassing problems.
2. What is the cause of these problems in the world: aids,
violence, addictions, broken homes, attitudes, etc.???
3. The number one problem, the one behind all of these is:
SIN.
4. Rebellion against God and His commands-- Lawlessness has
always resulted in problems for man.
5. What is the solution for SIN?
6. Jesus Christ, the crucified, resurrected, Savior calls upon
mankind to repent, turn toward the Father, OBEY HIM.
7. Rom 5:8,9; Heb 5:8,9; 1 Pet. 2:20-21
8. Become a child of God, be born into God's family and then
begin to grow into full maturity by feasting on God's Word.
9. l Pet 2:1-2; Heb 5:14
