WHY I AM NOT A CHRISTIAN

Introduction:
   1. Matt. 11:28-29; John 6:44-51.
   2. Jesus pleads with man to come unto Him; to believe in Him.
   3. Why do people not come to Him???
   4. Many have been the times that you no doubt have wanted to ask
of someone, "Why are you not a Christian?"
   5. If you have not asked, no doubt you have wondered over and
over as to why people are not Christians.
   6. I propose to give a few answers that have been offered, either
by word of mouth or by action, as to why they have never
obeyed the Master; why they are not faithful servants of the
      King.
   7. In connection with these answers, I wish to notice a verse to
answer each comment and show that God will not accept them.
   8. If you are in this audience and have never obeyed the gospel,
are not a Christian, will you not please give serious
      consideration to these passages.

BODY:
   1. IS IT BECAUSE OF RIDICULE???
Luke 9:26 -- "Whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my
words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed."
No one has ever or ever will suffer more shame and ridicule
than did Jesus Christ while He was upon this earth, but
He had a purpose in doing so. Spat upon, mockery, etc.
Today, we have a purpose in becoming a Christian in spite of
            any ridicule or supposed shame.

   2. IS IT BECAUSE OF THE INCONSISTENCIES OF PROFESSING CHRISTIANS?
Rom. 14:12 -- "Every man shall give account of himself to God
I am so glad that I do not have to answer for others, for
their deeds. And no doubt, you are happy that you do not
have to answer for the life I live.
Each one is held responsible unto God for our own life.
NOTE: If a sinner is standing in your way of service
unto God, he/she is closer to God than you are.

   3. IS IT BECAUSE ONE IS NOT WILLING TO GIVE UP ALL FOR CHRIST???
Mark 8:36 -- "What shall it profit a man, if he gain the
whole world and lose his own soul?"
During the time of wars, many thought of the loss of money
and/or possessions, but how many thought of the loss of
            souls.
During the recent hurricane, many thought of the loss of
property and lives, but how many thought of the loss of
souls. Souls unprepared to meet their God.
Some do not become faithful members of God's family because
they do not wish to spend time in worship and service.
On Sunday nights, on Wednesday nights, during Gospel
            meetings, etc.
Not willing to surrender all to Christ Jesus.

   4. IS IT BECAUSE ONE IS AFRAID THEY SHALL NOT BE ACCEPTED??
John 6:37 -- "Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast
            out."
The darkest sinner on the earth will be accepted by God, if
            he or she repents.
There is no sin that the Blood of Christ cannot cleanse. The
need is not in the power of the blood, but in the change
of heart of the sinner; the acknowledgment of sin.
There is no such thing as being too great a sinner.
1 John 1:7 -- "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us
            from all sin."

5. IS IT FOR FEAR THAT YOU SHALL NOT HOLD OUT??
Phil. 1:6 -- "He which hath begun a good work in you will
perform it until the day of Jesus Christ."
A child cannot walk at birth. God does not expect perfection,
but He does expect us to do our best.
We must continue to grow and develop.
The fact that one is a child in Christ does not give that one
the right to commit willful sin; to walk or live in sin.
1 Cor. 10:13 -- Escape is offered, we must search for it.

6. IS IT BECAUSE ONE IS THINKING THAT THEY DO AS WELL AS THEY CAN,
AND THE LORD OUGHT TO BE SATISFIED WITH THAT???
James 2:10 -- "Whoever shall keep the whole law and yet
offend in one point is guilty of all."
God expects complete obedience to His laws, all of them.
Matt. 7:21 -- "Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord...
Jehovah expects the very best that we can do, as we with pure
hearts seek to do His will.

7. IS IT THAT YOU THINK YOURSELF TO BE TOO YOUNG??
Ecc. 12:1 -- "Remember also thy Creator in the days of thy
youth, before the evil days come, and the years draw
            nigh...."
Are you old enough to have committed sin, to know right from
wrong?? They you are old enough to need to have your
sins remitted by the blood of Christ.

8. IS IT BECAUSE YOU ARE POSTPONING THE MATTER WITHOUT DEFINITE
   REASON??
Prov. 21:7 -- "Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou
knoweth not what a day may bring forth."
Jas. 4:14 -- "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the
morrow. What is you life? For ye are a vapor that
appears for a little time and then vanisheth away...."
You have no promise of tomorrow.
Heb. 9:27 -- "It is appointed unto man once to die...."
If one dies planning to become a Christian, he/she is no
better off than the one who never thinks of it.
Planning to obey the gospel will not suffice. "Lord I
intended to," will not be accepted.

9. IS IT BECAUSE OF CLOSENESS TO PARENTS???
Matt. 10:37 -- "He that loveth father or mother more than me
            is not worthy of me."
Should we love and respect our parents? Certainly so!! God
demands that of us. But one can love and respect their
            parents and still serve God.

CONCLUSION:
   1. We are discussing the most important question that mankind
shall ever deal with. Why are you not a Christian?
   2. There may be other answers given, but none will suffice.
   3. Eternity is at stake, we dare not take a risk.
   4. If you are not a faithful Child of God, can you give reason
      for your decision?
   5. Could it be that you have possibly sought to excuse yourself?
   6. If so, allow me to emphasize the seriousness of your choice.
   7. The same excuse are often offered by those who have obeyed the
Gospel and have since turned away from the Lord; or have grown
slack in the duties and service.
   8. If, as a child of God, you have allowed any of these thought
to deter you in your service, then why not today make your
calling and election sure. If public in nature, then make the
corrections. If private, go home and get in your closet and
      ask God's precious forgiveness.
