THE JUDGMENT
Introduction:
1. Amos 4:12 -- Prepare to meet thy God.
2. Heb. 9:27 -- It is appointed unto man...then cometh judgment
3. Acts 17:30-31 -- God has appoint a day in which he will judge
4. Preparation to be at peace with God NOW, prepares one for that
meeting at the last day.
5. Time--NOW, THIS LIFE--is allotted in which to prepare.
6. No chance after death -- Luke 16:19-31.
7. Therefore, while we live in the flesh is the time to prepare.
8. In this study I wish to think about the Judgment and the
reality of that event. It IS going to happen.
I. LIFE AND DEATH: One of the great contrasts.
1. Life is in the blood -- both physical and spiritual.
Purpose of Christ giving His blood for sin. He gave His
very life to redeem mankind from eternal damnation.
2. Death -- Its cause, SIN: Ezek. 18:4, 20.
Its nature -- SEPARATION: Jas 2:24-26.
After death, no probation -- 2 Peter 2:9; Lk. 16:19ff.
No second chance
No escape.
II. WILL THERE BE A JUDGMENT??
1. Matt. 25:31-32; Acts 17:30-32; Heb. 9:27.
One cannot accept the word of God and deny the judgment.
III. WHO WILL BE THE JUDGE??
1. Matt. 25:31-32; John 5:22, 25-29.
2. Acts 17:30-32.
3. Christ came in the flesh, to die and be raised. He knows
the feelings of deity as well as the feelings of humanity.
4. Heb. 4:14-16 -- He is qualified to be an able mediator.
5. We will not be able to say, "It was too difficult, just
too hard." For, He knows.
IV. WHO WILL BE JUDGED???
1. Matt. 25:31-46
2. 2 Cor. 5:10, 11; 2 Tim. 4:1; Rev. 20:12ff.
3. I will be there; You shall be there; All will be there.
4. None shall escape!!!
V. FOR WHAT WILL ALL MEN BE JUDGED???
1. Ecc. 12:13-14 -- hidden things; secret things. Nothing
shall escape the watchful eye of Jehovah.
2. Matt. 12:36-37 -- every word spoken.
3. 2 Cor. 5:10 -- deeds done in the body.
4. Jer. 17:10-- Fruits of deeds done.
5. SIMPLY STATING IT: We are responsible for everything that
we do; everything that we say; our whole life.
6. Ignorance has never been an excuse to break law; neither
with man or with God.
7. Youth is not excuse to rebel against righteousness. Often
we hear, "Young people must sow their wild oats." That may
well be so, but you must answer for those "wild oats."
VI. PURPOSE OF THE JUDGMENT:
1. NOT A TRIAL -- Ecc. 12:13-14; John 5:28; Rom. 2:5-6
2. We will not stand there and plead our case. There will be
no trial lawyers and prosecuting attorneys there.
3. The time for pleading will be past; nothing that can be
done at that point in time.
4. THEN, it will be a time to pass judgment upon all.
5. It will be either a COME or GO; ENTER or DEPART.
Conclusion:
1. It has been our aim to emphasize the judgment.
Matt. 25:13, 46; Rev. 20:12-13; 23:8.
2. "Watch and pray" lest we be unprepared.
3. We are stewards, responsible for what we do with what we have.
4. Be ready, the judgment is sure to come and we will be there.
5. The good, the bad; the prepared, the unprepared; ALL.
6. NOW is the time to make preparations. TODAY.
Are you a child of God, on talking terms with Jehovah.
Only by accepting responsibility in this life can we hear the
desired word, "Enter in....."
7. As the rich man's brothers -- You MUST hear God's Word.
