how Chemosh became angry with the people and allowed Omri, King of
Israel, to capture them and make them pay tribute. It tells of the
Moabites gaining their independence after the death of Ahab. The
inscriptions from this stone read like a chapter from the book of
Kings in the Bible. Reference is made to Jehovah with many details of
the Bible illustrated. The relations between Moab and Israel agree
with the Bible account.

V. EGYPTIAN DISCOVERIES

The Pharoah of Egypt during the bondage of Israel was Rameses
II. His mummy has been found. The city of Pithom (Ex. 1:11) has been
discovered with actual storehouses built by the Hebrews, the lower
portions made of brick containing straw and the upper portions made
of brick without straw. Meneptah II was the Pharoah of the time of
the Exodus and his mummy has been found. A hymn of victory mentions
Israel and the inscription tells of the death of his young son;
perhaps in the last of the plagues. Other findings show the location
of Goshen. (Gen 45:10; 46:28, 29, 34: 47:4,6,27; Ex. 8:22; 9:26)

VI. RECORD OF THE HITTITES

Skeptics once claimed that no nation as the Hittites (Gen.
26:34; Num. 13:29; 1 Sam. 26:6) ever existed; their only mention
being in the Bible. Records of both Egypt and Assyria have now been
found which show that the Hittites occupied northern Syria and
southern Asia Minor for almost seven hundred years. Ruins of the
Hittite buildings have been found.

VII. OTHER FINDINGS

The ruins of Ur of Chaldees, Abraham's home, have been found.
Portraits of the Canaanites whom Joshua fought with have been found.
Also, Shishak's sculptured account of his campaign against Rehoboam.
Those images bear the names of Gaza, Adullam, Adjallon, Gibeon and
Jerusalem. Tiglath-pileser's (Assyrian King, 745-727 B.C., "Pul," 2
Kings 15:19,20) record mentions Uzziah, Ahaz, Menahem, Pekah, Hosea
and five kings of Judah and Israel. We have Sargon's account of his
capture of Samaria and Sennacharib's history of his invasion of
Palestine mentioning King Hezekiah. The excavations of Susa, Persia
have confirmed the book of Esther. The city of Niveveh has been
found.
The archaeologist continue to strengthen our faith in the
inspiration of the Bible. As more findings are unearthed the
truthfulness and accuracy of the Bible is established more and more.
Truly, "men spake from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit." 2 Peter
1:21. How careful mankind should be in their usage of the Book of
God.
