Here are some email and written comments received about "Charlie".

She is just so lovely am going to have to “try” for another.  The Charlie/Scarlett breeding is one that really “clicks”.  I will see if I can get the fellow next door to scan the recent pictures of her.  They are head studies but her confirmation is flawless.

Sorry it has taken me SOOOOO long but finally here is a picture of The ArchAngel Gabrielle (we call her Gabby or Gabrielle).  She was sired by Investment Genius in 1998 and was born Jun 3 1999.  In this photo she is about 14 months old.  She is beautiful, kind and smart.  She was imprinted as a newborn and loaded in a trailer by the time she was a month old.  She was fully halter broke, good for farrier, clipping, etc by the time she was two months old.  We are just starting Pat Parelli level I training with her and she is picking it up fast.  We will not start riding her until the spring of her third year.  She is an interesting combination of dominant, smart, and kind.  Her head is gorgeous, in fact somebody gave me an argument and told me she couldn’t be a walking horse; with a head like that she had to be an Arab!  We love her and can’t think of a better stallion to breed to than your Investment Genius.

Thought you would like to know we sold our beautiful liver chestnut [IG] colt to a SHOW HOME in Texas! I am so pleased...he will be training for the National Versatility Program. So we may see his name in lights as they say!  Thought you would like to know this as you said most of his get are going happily off trail riding...which is what we use his mother for. I will be calling you this early spring to breed back Jade again to Investment Genius. Think my contract is good til April of 2001. Talk to you then. Have a good holiday! C.

To sum it up in 1997 and again in 1999 we had 3 shipments for two mares.  We thank you. G and V.

We absolutely love the foal from Charlie and Missy. She is so sensible and intelligent and beautiful and , and, and….    Sunday Investment  is very large, already 15.1 as a yearling. We absolutely love her, I can't tell you how much. My favorite expression for her is she is a gorgeous totally trustworthy filly. Our farrier says that she will probably be the most smooth horse we have ever ridden.  Our colt was born at 6:37 A.M. on the 18th. He is wonderful. I am enclosing a couple of pictures for you. He is really spunky and a de lite. We used the imprinting system with him and he responds very well-(so far).   Any way we couldn’t be happier with him!  (Thank you Charlie!)  C & D.

Dear Joan Winsor. Toddy’s Perfect Lady 880933, Toddys Ladyship 934239 are confirmed in foal today. We thank you for your usual good service.

Blue Chip Investment (IG colt) is a good one!  J.

Semen great quality, as usual. Take care,  M.

I was able to visit my sister, who lives in Sequim, this last September and during that visit I was able to see and ride Charlie. You obviously have a wonderful horse and have put in a lot of time and effort to prove his abilities. He has an excellent temperament and his conformation in my opinion is faultless.  I would be interested in breeding our mare to Charlie this spring by Artificial Insemination here in Michigan.

Angel is such a sweetheart, so smart and willing, level-headed.  Slik never breaks out of a walk unless it is to canter.  She is much more fiery and opinionated than Angel, moves snappy, “look at me!”  Took her thru belly-hi grass, she wanted to jump over it so it wouldn’t brush her tummy.  What a kick! M.

She doesn’t step over logs, she jumps them!  Put light saddle bags on her, took her to the park, in the water, over concrete and wooden bridges, never hesitated, flapping bags didn’t phase her.  Her 1st show is July 1.  Straight legs, excellent conformation, it is the standing still part that is going to get her.  Thanks for your support, M.

I can’t believe it is nearly the end of August and I haven’t written to tell you what a fabulous filly we have by Investment Genius and our mare, Chica.  Maija (pronounced My-a, as in “my-a horse!) is a beautiful dark bay, not quite a seal brown, but fairly dark.  She has a beautiful head and the “giant eye” that you talk about in the video on Charlie.  She is a standout in our crowd, and we feel we have some very nice foals by our own stallion.  She is very sweet.   I plan to keep this filly and I am looking forward to her being my saddle horse in the coming years. L.

I need to ask a question. Have you had any of the owners of Charlie's foals relate to you that they like to jump. I went out to feed Sunday morning and Sunday was not there. As I looked for her I saw her moving up and down the fence BUT ON THE OTHER SIDE. I could not believe my eyes. So I got a halter and lead line and she stood right there for me to halter her up, very calmly.  This filly jumped 3'9" of fence and cleared it as there are no scrapes on her belly. She is getting pretty tall, about 14 hands, but this requires an athletic move. I guess she will have to do versatility as she is a natural athlete. She also had a wonderful rocking chair canter with her own collection. Just thought I would let you know about this. Give Charlie a carrot----K.

We are pleased with our Blue Chip Investment.  He seems very talented due to his nice conformation. (Several WCW club members are interested too in future breedings to Charlie...wait til they see Chip and they will be convinced.)  Sincerely, J.

When the Natural Walking Horse Association decided to certify and list naturally gaited stallions, Investment Genius was the first approved stallion.  Below is a copy of the announcement.

STALLION SPOTLIGHT:  INVE$TMENT GENIU$

It is with great pleasure that NWHA introduces our first featured stallion: Investment Genius. This 16.1 h., 8 year old bay is the complete package. He is by Pride*s Genius and out of the great Harlinsdale Farm mare, Midnight Easter. This mare is one of the great producers of our time, including current LS multi-champion Easy Easter, a full brother to 1G. Midnight Easter*s father is the immortal Midnight Sun giving some classic Walking Horse blood up close and personal. Her dam (Elrod*s Easter Chance) was by the great Merry Go Boy stallion, Easter’s Go Boy and out of a Last Chance mare. In short, the bottom line on this horse’s papers is as strong as the top line. You simply will not find more regal parentage.

Charlie”, as IG is affectionately known, is a TWHBEA Supreme Versatility Champion, 1996 International Trail Pleasure and Western Pleasure Champion, and 1996 Celebration Trail Pleasure World Champion. He has consistently won at halter, and was the 1996 TWHBEA Hi -Point Horse in Model. He has been trained and shown lite shod, exclusively.

The video tape we received shows Charlie to be a massively muscled stallion with short back and handsome wide head with very large expressive eyes. His legs appear to be very correct. He is seen ridden bareback by two children...at the same time !! It is clear to us that this is a very sweet, very laid back horse. Owner Dr. Joan Winsor encourages visitors to ride him. After seeing him, we don*t think she ~s kidding. This is a genuinely gentle, sweet horse.

Detailed slow motion and timing analysis of this horse*s gaits illustrate an excellent natural running walk. The timing is absolutely square; leg positions are text book. The horse is loose and exhibits excellent head nod. This is a real Walking Horse. His canter is superb. His flat walk is bold and loose.

We saw some tape of his get. All appeared to have been well stamped with Papa Charlie*s substance and beauty. We especially enjoyed me spotted foal, barely halter broke, but shaking his head and wanting to stay walking even when falling behind mom*s long strides.

Because her breeding facility is located in Washington State, Dr. Winsor realized the need to set up a first class transported semen system. She has made a serious service commitment to provide IG semen on several hour*s notice. Charlie*s semen transports very well and to date, he has settled all mares. This is in contradistinction to many breeding operations, where lack of expertise and service often result in huge vet and boarding bills without results.
