Slide's panhead This photo is current. The pic on my home page was taken when I ran a springer, upswept straight fishtails, and a mousetrap on this bike. I like to change it around every couple of years or so - it's like getting a new ride without shelling out a lot of cash. |

Slide's shovelhead FXR The Arlen Ness fairing is gone and that front end has been replaced by a wide glide and a 21. Shovels are to my mind the best motor Harley has built. A basically stock 80 incher with a mild cam and an S&S carburetor packs plenty of smooth punch with reliability. |

Slide's softail This is the bike my wife likes best, what with the cushy suspension and the padded sissy bar. Most of our travels on this ride are at elevations between 7,000 and 11,000 feet, and the SU carb along with the Andrews EV-3 cam is the hot ticket. The footpegs are set way too high, and the aftermarket adapters I've seen to lower them push them outboard about an inch which is unacceptable. I'm currently in the process of fabbing some new kickstand/shifter/peg and brake pedal/peg brackets that are more along the lines of the old rigids - should make it sit just right. The Softail is the nicest ride for the long haul, but no where near as much fun to ride as the pan, and the evo is no match for the shovel. |
