The quotation on my Philosophy page attributed to Richard Feynman was excerpted from Genius: The Life and Science of Richard Feynman by James GleickFeynman reportedly said it in an interview in 1959. KNXT (CBS television in Los Angeles) refused to air it.
In his book, Gleick makes the following observation:
"Religion meant superstition: reincarnation, miracles, virgin birth. It replaced ignorance and doubt with certainty and faith; Feynman was happy to embrace ignorance and doubt."
Gleick also wrote Chaos: Making a New Science which is also excellent reading. You can get these books at amazon.com.
I don't have any interest in promoting Gleick or amazon.com other than the books are worth reading and it's a good source for books.
