Good Historical and Research References
The Cherokee People : The Story of the Cherokees from Earliest Origins to Contemporary Times
Thomas E. Mails is the author. This is a huge book with good illustrations. It is very informative.

Cherokee Proud Tony Mack
McClure, Ph.D. offers a book on researching your Cherokee roots. I
highly recommend it. Not only is it a good resource for finding your
Cherokee family history, it is a considerate
work regarding Native American research and celebrating our heritage. I
read
it cover to cover in the van at a boyscout campout after it was "lights
out".
I just couldn't put it down! I am passing along that I have heard all
proceeds
from this book go to make free copies available to libraries.
The
Patriot Chiefs by Alvin M., Jr. Josephy. By featuring some of
America's finest American Indian leaders, Josephy gives us a view
through history. This is a serious work.
James
Mooney's History, Myths, and Sacred Formulas of the Cherokees :
Containing the Full Texts of Myths of the Cherokee (1900 and the Sacred
Formula)
by James Mooney, George Ellison (Introduction) This is the complete
book with a years worth of study in it. I refer back to my copy over
and over again.
A GOOD READ
