Cream Gravy

Also known as sawmill gravy, milk gravy, white gravy or chicken gravy, is the typical accompaniment to Southern fried chicken. In many homes one is never served without the other. This gravy can also be made from the drippings of meat other than fried chicken.

 

Pour off all except 1/4 cup drippings from skillet in which the chicken was fried; place skillet over medium heat. Add flour, and stir until browned. Gradually add hot milk; cook,stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt and pepper. Serve hot! Serve with biscuits too! Yield 2 3/4 cups.
