CSX Coal Train Derails at Milmay!

CSX Coal train derailed on the Milmay siding late Friday, January 6, or early Saturday morning. Click here for news article. Seen here two CSX GE AC units sit on the siding track with two coal car that did not overturn. In the background three coal cars rest on the mainline of the Beesleys Point Secondary Track amidst clean up operations. The remaining train consist sits further back down the main line.

Here is a close up of the affected railcars. Apparently three cars derailed on the siding track emptying their contents accordingly. Approximately a 5 car length of siding track was obliterated. Apparently the mainline was unaffected.

Swing Bridge Maintenance in Cape May

Apparently the Cape May Seashore Lines doesn't want to waste any time gearing up for the 2006 season. Here we see a crane on Saturday, January 7, 2006, adding rip rap to the northernmost bridge abutment to the Cape May canal swing bridge. The bridge was refurbished shortly before CMSL started operations into Cape May. CMSL has expanded service to Richland, NJ along the Beesleys Point Secondary track. CMSL also hopes to return freight operations to Woodbine in the near future as well.

The Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus train is in town until April 15 in Atlantic City, NJ. The train passed over the Delair Railroad Bridge at 6:20 pm Monday, April 8, 2002. The train was headed up by a CSX AC6000, a geep, and an SD40-2 with 57 circus cars. The train paraded through South Jersey is nearly a mile long. Thousands of spectators came out to view the train's passing along the Beesleys Point Secondary Track. It has been nearly 35 years since the circus visited Atlantic City. The train changed crews at Pavonia Yard in Camden, departing there around 7:00 pm. The train arrived in Winslow Junction for interchange with the SRNJ at 9:30 pm. FURX unit on Beesleys Point Secondary!

On March 20, 2001, Conrail's WPCA20 headed eastbound from Camden to the power plant at Beesleys Point, NJ, outside of Ocean City, with 16 oil cars behind a leased First Union SD40-2. #3024 in a new paint job passed Haddon Heights at 12:46 pm. As the train continued east, it passed a rail grinding crew at the short siding in Laurel Springs. In Clementon, no doubt due to the rail grinding crew, the train's conductor had to flag the out of service railroad crossings as seen here in downtown Clementon, NJ. The return trip to Camden passed Oaklyn at 9:45 pm behind the FURX unit, three CSXT units and a slew of empty oil tankers and coal hoppers. Courtesy of John Hooven

Camden-Trenton Light Rail Newsphotos

The following four photos illustrate the laying of ribbon rail on NJT's SNJLRTS in Riverside, NJ on December 9, 2000. Rail will not be installed until the summer heat sufficiently heats up the rails which will have expanded by then.
