What is personal style?

Only you and you alone can give an answer to that question.

Many of us confuse personal style with being "in style" and being in style means following a trend. Too often, we are subjugated to what’s hot And what’s not, as the fashion industry forces trends to change.

So when the moment actually comes to picking out a wedding dress, don’t fall into a fog of  indecision and worry. Rest assured that deep inside your mind's eye there exists a perfect dress that you've dreamt of all of your life. A dress that is truly you. If it is out there, you will find it.

Fashion history can help you make your choice. Choose a design, not a designer.

What is your personal style?

Here are some of the Brides we Love from decades past...that had it all figured out.

At Right: Jobnya Ralston wears a gorgeous off the shoulder silver satin dress trimmed with metallic gold gimp.

Jobnya wears a cap veil of pleated chantilly lace trimmed with wax flower orange blossoms. Her cascade veiling consisted of over twelve feet of silk tulle.

"A toast to the Bride and also the Groom.
May you always find joy in all that you do.  May your hearts be filled with contentment and laughter,
and may true love be yours-
forever after..."

American  Wedding Toast

Above: Vilma Banky appeared in a 1925 Hollywood studio publicity still for the release of the silent film, "The Dark Angel" where she played the lead character Kitty Vane opposite Ronald Coleman.

Miss Banky reportedly loved this dress so much that she borrowed it from the studio to wear later that day for her own marriage ceremony. She used this publicity still photo as her announcement to the media.  Her lace cloche cap headdress with silk tulle veil featured wax flower orange blossoms and velvet leaves that matched her waist corsage. A simple strand of cultured pearls finished the look.
