The FULL-SIZED FUN FANTASY  SECTION
~
Sometimes I think the most interesting airplanes are the ones that never got built. Some of these were schemes that were too visionary, some are found in fiction, and some were practical aircraft that lost out somewhere between blue sky and finished prototype.

The BRITISH ASSOCIATION GREAT AIRLINER of the FUTURE (CLICK)
A fine Jules Vernely giant hurtling through the night

The TINSLEY - Capt. BARNABY CONVERTAPLANE (CLICK)
An interesting convertaplane from Air Trails. I made it into a huge NoCal. Be the first to make the peanut.

The PAYEN PA122-C1 (CLICK)
A French fighter that failed to stop the Germans.

The NON-STOP ROUND the WORLD BURNELLI UB-14 (CLICK)
This one is really a gorgeous paint job on a very rare airplane. The page contains several large plans for a model. If you just want to groove on  the pschodeliklicorousness, I suggest you turn off the auto load and click the first pic.

The COLANI ENERGY SAVING PLANE (CLICK)
A very swoopy I-don't-know-what-to-call-it.

The BEL GEDDES AIRLINER #4 (CLICK)
The grandest of the giant flying wing proposals

ZEPPLINS ~ ROTARY & OTHERWISE (CLICK)
Some not well known lighter than air stuff

The BATTLE OF SEXOS PORT (CLICK)
An unheralded  aerial epic with true fine pictures

The GYROPTER & The McCUTCHEN MACHINE (CLICK)
A rather dizzyfying scheme that is more funner as a model than as a man carrying device.

HARRY GRANT DART
An great unheralded artist of mighty Fantasy Planes

ROLAND PAYEN'S AIRPLANES
Many amazing flying devices by a visionary Frenchman

SOME CARTOONS
Unlikely fun flying devices.

There are some more full sized planes of varying degrees of possibility scattered around the site.

The Antes, a large annular, can be found on .

While they don't qualify as fantasy planes Bill Horton's planes certainly are fascinating.
The HORTON PAGES (CLICK)

And some links around the web

LUFT 46 (CLICK)
Great gobs of German Secret Weapon Wonder Machines. There is probably more neat fantasy flyers here than the whole rest of the web.  For example-for a coal fired  delta winged RamJet try
The COAL FIRED RAM JET FIGHTER (CLICK)

The NURFLUGEL PAGES
Flying wings, most of which don't qualify as Fantasy Flyers, but some do. Lots of three views

A TRULY FAR OUT PATENT (CLICK)
Thank you Charlie Hendrickson. Do you think this is a put on?

Some nice stuff by Edgar Jacobs. It seems a sort of Black Hawks meet TinTin comic.
BLAKE ET MORTIMER COMICS (CLICK)

INFLATABLE FLYINGWINGS (CLICK)
Some truly odd and un-fantasy inflatable flying wings
More on thise...
MORE INFLATABLE AIRPLANES (CLICK)

LOTS OF RUSSIAN AIRPLANES (CLICK)
When you enter the site you might find some heartfelt political views. When you are done with it click it away and you'll find great gobs (1383 ) of Russian airplanes, mostly non-fantasy flyers. Check out the Spheroplanes & the 5 plane and have a good time looking around.

MANPOWERED PLANES (CLICK)
A good place to start.  I dunno - all those folks making a couple of horse power at an hour that requires all my intellectual powers to run a cup of coffee. These days most of these are more or less un-fantasy fliers.  I liked the Japanese link. Folks having a good time doing Langley's. Find the pterodactyle and the Oragami Society's flying saucer.

GRAHAM KNIGHT'S PIX OF RAMOND MASSEY'S FLYING WING (CLICK)  In the thirties Science Fiction Movie, Things to Come Raymond Massey has a neat  single seater flying wing. Graham Knight inherited a model from a previous denizen of his studio. Check it out.

SCALED COMPOSITES (CLICK) Here are some weido's- Thanx to  Charlie Hendrickson

BRITISH ODDITIES (CLICK)  Some very odd British Fantasy Planes. The rest of the site has fun odd airplanes. You have to love the "Fleet Spotters",  true competitors to the ugly French Bombers.

BACH SUPER TRANSPORT  A 3vu of mighty fine fantasy oddity that maybe could be made to fly. A short blurb can be found by clicking HERE and scrolling down to Bach Super Transport
Note: there are many neat oddities to be found by wandering around the rest of AEROFILES.

CRIMSON SKIES  Very weird and fun.  This one seems to be a teaser for a microsoft game. I hope they make a movie.
