The applicant must be recommended by an official representative of a local or regional speech contest.  This form is to be submitted by either the applicant or the contest representative with the signatures of the student, the student’s parent or guardian, and the representative of the speech contest.  The form should be mailed to the Aurora Foundation on or before April 15, 2008.

• Were you one of the top three winners of a sub-national/local Japanese language speech contest held in the USA between April 2007 and April 15, 2008?

• Are you a high school student at the time of the Aurora Speech Contest (May 24, 2008)?   (If you are in your senior year and will graduate in May or June 2008, you are still eligible).

We understand that:

• The sponsoring organization or the student will be responsible for transportation between student's home and Los Angeles.
• All expenses in LA will be covered by the Aurora Foundation.
• The student will home-stay with a Japanese host family in the LA area for two nights, unless the student wishes to make his or her own housing arrangement at his/her own expense.
• The applicant meets all the qualifications explained in the explanation sheet.
