Bios and Pictures of 2009 Glory Elite (17U) Team
(click on the above link please)
MN Glory is committed to helping
the elite HS basketball player achieve their dream of
playing college basketball.
Neil Parry's HS dream was to play
college football. He was living that dream
when he suffered such a severe football injury
his right leg had to be amputated.
He returned to San Diego State
in 2000 and finished the football season
using an artificial leg.
Are you that committed to your dreams?
Glory Coaches, Tryouts, & Tournaments
COACHES
Glory 16U - Coaches Neil Fletcher & Lee Isaacson
Glory 17U - Coaches Dr. Charles Paxson & Ben Paxson
TRYOUTS
Tryouts will be held for 16U, & 17U teams on Monday March 30th. Registration for current sophomores begins at 5:30 pm. Registration for current juniors begins at 6:30 pm. Elite freshmen may try out for the sophomore team. We do not take sophomores onto the junior team. This would knock an elite junior out of his last chance to impress college coaches with his skills. The fee for the Glory experience for each player will be determined by the total costs divided by the 10 athletes.
Teams will be announced 30 minutes after tryouts are over. Players are expected to make a commitment to the team at that time.
TOURNAMENTS
In-State Tournaments for Glory 16s and 17s are as follows:
April 4-5 St Cloud (both teams)
April 24-26 Hopkins (both teams)
May 8-10 Chisago Lakes (16s only)
May 29-31 State Qualifier at Champlin HS (both teams)
June 5-7 AAU State Championships (both teams)
June 19-21 MN Showcase (17s only)
16U practices will be set by Coach Fletcher the night of tryouts.
17U Glory will have practices each Friday night when Elite is playing in a tournament.
The 17U playbook given out March 30th is expected to be mastered by April 24th.
Friday night May 29, former USA Olympian Ron Backes will be present
to give a 15 min devotional prior to practice.
National Tournaments
"Sorry, Shrek. Coach says girlfriends aren't allowed on out-of-state trips. I'll see you when you get home!"
Except for the 17U trip to Orlando, all team travel is with volunteer parents.
In Sioux Falls, Glory 17s will practice from 6-8pm June 24 at Sioux Falls Christian HS.
All games in Sioux Falls will be at the Elmen Center on Augustana College's campus
(See Mr. Basketball website for pool/tournament play).
Glory 17s will leave for Indianapolis, Indiana July 5, and compete in the "Hoosier Shootout"
July 6-9. See that website for all pool/bracket listings. The team will then drive the 1.5 hrs down to Louisville to compete in the KY Hoops Festival July 9-12.
Glory 17s will fly to Orlando on July 25, and return on August 2.
Glory 16s will drive to Wahpeton June 18, and compete in the Dakota Hoopfestival June 19-21. July 11, Glory 16s will drive to KC, check in at the Drury Inn in Shawnee Mission KS, and participate in the KC Price Chopper tournament July 12-15.
Glory Costs
Glory tryout fee is $25.00, nonrefundable.
All quoted costs are the cost of each player's uniforms, the tournaments plus the motel costs divided by the 10 team members. There are no coaching fees, no court fees included in the quoted costs.
Travel to all out-state trips is with volunteer parents. Those parents traveling with the team must calculate that into their personal budget. We ask that any player traveling with another athlete's parents help with the gas money. Once a player is selected at tryouts, parents need to book motel rooms in the cities we travel to. Especially in Sioux Falls, these motels fill up fast because of a concurrent national softball tournament.
For those athletes successful in making each team, $380 will be due at tryout completion. This includes the $14 AAU fee, which Glory will send to MN AAU on behalf of each team member. The second 16U fee of $380 is due April 24th. All checks for each team should be made out to MN Glory, not the Paxsons, nor the Fletchers. Give your check to your head coach - Neil Fletcher, or Dr. Paxson.
The second 17U fee of $380 is due April 24th. The Third 17U fee of $380 is due on May 29th. These fees do not include the costs of AAU Nationals as the plane fare has not been determined. None of these costs include food when out of state. We recommend each boy carries $15 per day.
We always welcome cost-cutting suggestions.
An athlete coming to tryouts without one parent or legal guardian, must bring a signed permission sheet - otherwise that athlete will not be allowed to participate in tryouts.
