1959 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk I ("Bugeye")
The British call these "Frogeye". I think I like that better than "Bugeye," an American usage.
Donald Healey designed these minimal sports cars to use Austin sedan mechanical components. Aside from a tendency to break axles, they are reliable (for the period) and great fun! This was (and may still be) the standard vehicle for SCCA H-Production racing; today, there may be more Bugeyes on the track than on the street.
This photo was taken north of Atlanta in the mid-1980's; today, this bucolic view has been replaced by houses, shopping malls, condos, and offices. Bah! Humbug!
