Nick Komar:
"To reach this location, go south on US 287 from Berthoud, or north from
Longmont, and turn west on Larimer CR4 (Wagon Wheel Rd.). After three to four miles,
turn left on dirt road that is signed for "Parrish Ranch" (if CR4 curves to the
north, you went too far). Proceed south on dirt road about 1 mile. The road
curves to the west alongside the Little Thompson River and comes to the gate
for the RV Resort and Event Center (signed). We parked at the gate.
The sparrow seems to have a large territory, but one of its favorite spots is
behind a large lean-to shed that harbors some old vehicles, just to the right
(north) of the gate. It also favored the bramble along the entrance road just
beyond the tent/teepee campground."

From Interstate 25, take Highway 14 (Exit 269).
Drive West on Hwy 14 (Mulberry) to west side of Fort Collins.
You pass Mishawaka in 29.0 miles (from I25).
From here you have two choices; I recommend number 2.
1. Continue past Mishawaka 13.0 miles to CR 63E (just east of Eggers).
Turn South on CR 63E and follow it to sign to Pennock Pass.
(Sign is about 12 miles or so from Hwy 14).
Turn east on CR 44H and continue to summit.
Return to Fort Collins by #2 (reversed of course).
2. Turn south on Stove Prairie Road (CR 27), 3.0 miles west of Mishawaka.
Follow Stove Prairie Road (CR 27) 8.8 miles to CR 44H (marked well).
Turn west on CR 44H to Pennock Pass summit.
Summit is marked by wooden fence (but no sign).
From either direction you coming from, you go from driving up to starting downhill.
(Sounds elementary, however in the dark, it can be confusing and change is slight.)
(It was the only fence that we crossed through during the drive.)
If you come from the East (number 2 route).
Set trip meter to zero at Stove Prairie Road & CR 44H.
You cross cattle guards at:
1st: 10.9 miles; 2nd: 11.5 miles; 3rd: 12.5 miles
Best FLOW location is 13.0 miles
Then try 0.1 mile intervals (especially west from there)
The owls reported by me were at 13.0 miles west of above intersection.
Ehlmann found FLOW at 13.2 on 8/17/2005
Continuing west on 44H to 63E, Highway 14 is 29.2 mileage.

To Search For Summer Tanager 9/18:
Directions according to Hugh Kingery:
"Directions are as follows: Get to Colorado Highway 105 which goes
from Sedalia to Palmer Lake (from the south get off I-25 at Larkspur;
maybe also from the north). From 105 go west on Red Rocks Drive
2.2 miles. [Red Rock is 3-4 miles straight west of Larkspur.]
Turn Right on Perry Park Road; continue 0.8 mile north along
Bear Creek (don't go left) past golf club and lake (the lake
shows on the De Lorme atlas map) [or 0.2 mile north of the dam.]
You'll see a brand-new bridge over Bear Creek, on the left,
[Country Club Drive]. Allan saw the tanager upstream from the bridge.
Directional notes of interest:
1. My DeLorme doesn't show the current road setup; Perry Park Rd.
now goes north along Bear Creek (where you should go) as well as
west away from it where you don't want to go. A new development
I suppose the golf course is part of it) has resulted in improved
roads, including the one that connects Country Club Drive to the bridge.
2. Perry Park Rd. has evolved into Perry Park Blvd.
3. Red Rock Road has evolved into Red Rock Drive.
4. CH 105 is also called Perry Park Road, from the Red Rock
connection south. Do not let this mislead you. The one you
are looking for is a different, or disconnected Perry Park Road
(or Blvd., I guess) on the west end of Red Rock. "

Follow directions to trails below and: "Merlynn Brown:

birds were 30-40 ft. south of trail, travelling along the creek
in a surprisingly large and noisy flock of Wilson's Warblers,

One route and probably the best follows Joe Roller's suggestions:
If wet and rainy, a 4WD vehicle might be quite useful! (But I did not find necessary)
From Bailey, CO; take CR 68 east. (Set Odometer to zero!)
After 0.5 miles, road crosses creek; after 1.3 miles road turns to gravel.

Both ways are close to same distance. Pine Junction to Buffalo Creek to FR 550 is paved road.

Continuing on west, at intersection of FR 549 and FR 550, take right fork.
At 8.2 miles from paved highway take right fork again; sign to EOS Mill.
This puts you on FR 553, which continues to FR 552 and Skipper Trailhead in about 1.8 miles.
Note: The plank bridge over Buck Creek is reached from Skipper Trailhead.
