DIRECTIONS (Plan A, easiest from I-70):
From I-70, whether westbound or eastbound, take exit 28, which is labeled as “24 Road”
and “Redlands Parkway.” Please don’t be confused that exit 28 is really for 24 Road!
At the round-abouts atop the off-ramps, reset your trip odometer to zero, and note
the following landmarks as you head south on 24 Road (small signs at round-abouts
will point you onto 24 Road):
0.6 miles = go straight thru first traffic light (G Road)
1.4 miles = go straight thru second traffic light (F Road), then over the overpass
thru third traffic light (East Business 70), road veers right and becomes Redlands Parkway
2.5 miles = crossing over the Colorado River, then up the hill into the Redlands
part of Grand Junction
3.1 miles = go straight through the fourth traffic light
3.4 miles = turn left at fifth traffic light onto C-340, also named Broadway.
You will be going east on C-340 thru the Redlands
5.4 miles = two-lane road becomes a four-lane road, move into right lane
5.9 miles = mile marker #12 and Country Club Park will be a SHARP right turn
and you will be climbing a fairly steep grade
6.0 miles = take the right fork of the road, the road will begin to bend left
and you will see a ravine on the right side
6.2 miles = our house, #308 labeled by the front door. Our house is two-tone
with red-brown brick on the lower half and white ship-board on the upper half.
DIRECTIONS (Plan B if the above doesn't?t work for you):
Take the Horizon exit from I-70 and go through downtown Grand Junction.
Follow signs toward Colorado National Monument. Take Hwy 340 (also named Broadway),
over the railroad tracks and the Colorado River. Hwy 340 is a divided road at this
point and begins to climb a gradual slope and at the crest bends to the right.
Here (about 0.5 miles after crossing the Col. River) there are two roads off to
the Left (South)... the first is signed S. Broadway, and the 2nd is signed
Country Club Park. Take the 2nd left (Country Club Park Road) and you will
immediately be climbing a steep grade. After a couple of squiggles in the road
direction, the road forks, take the right fork. Our house 308 Country Club Park
Road is the first house (about 0.1 mile) on the RIGHT after you begin seeing
the ravine on the right. NOTE: our mail box is on the left side of the street,
but our house is on the right (southwest) side of the street.
ON ARRIVAL:
Please park on our semicircular driveway on the gravel part, not on the cement
which blocks our garage, and NOT on the street. Enter our back yard thru the
gate on the left (SE side of house). There are no dogs, but we try to keep
the gate closed so deer won’t get trapped in our fenced-in area.
Please sign our guest book, note when the bird is seen or not seen, and
please note any interesting behaviors like interactions with other species.
If you get lost and need help please call us at 970-263-0115.
NOTE: Our yard is open to birders from dawn to dusk.
Good luck, and enjoy the birds!
