William Duffy's sculpture celebrates humanity through the human form, and its relationship to
the environment. The art that Duffy creates is rooted in sculpture's figurative tradition, with
decidedly contemporary influences. Aesthetically and functionally his sculpture verifies that art
in a public place is a necessity engendered by the belief that public art should create bonds
between people and their spaces. In his sculpture, Duffy endeavors to add meaning and spiritual
values to uplift through imagery that engages rather than alienates. Each time Duffy undertakes a
new project critical issues such as pinpointing the community ethos, architectural and landscape
compatibility are addressed first and foremost.
