Welcome to the MWBPA Online

We are an extremely loosely affiliated group of Bicycle Polo enthusiasts based in the Baltimore neighborhood of Mount Washington. We play nearly every Sunday at 4 PM at the Wellwood International School in Pikesville. All are welcome.

Bike Polo combines bicycling skills with racquet sport games. The game is about control, strategy, and speed. Once you have experienced bike polo, you will want to come out again and again. We have doubled in size in the past few months, and our goal is to have at least four teams playing in tournament style.

We play every Sunday at 4:00 PM on the Soccer field at Wellwood International School at 2901 Smith Avenue in Pikesville, MD. Click HERE for a map. We enthusiastically welcome new players and spectators.

Everyone is welcome to play or watch. However, everyone is responsible for his or her own safety. Bicycle Polo can be dangerous and all players must accept this reality.

It is important to arrive on time for play. If you are new, you may want to arrive a bit early to get your gear in order and to get familiar with the basics of the game.

Here are the RULES. We started playing an informal set of rules and have been trying to get more serious about the "real" rules. The right of way rules keep us all safe and allow us to compete effectively on the road.

NEWS FLASH!!!

Success in Charlottesville! The MWBPA made a very respectable road debut on the University of Virginia campus this weekend. We finished second of three teams, learned a lot, and made a lot of new friends. Micheal Preston has video of the event and we are trying to get a viewing scheduled. Everyone had a great time and we are looking forward to our next road game in the spring.

T-Shirt News

We are now officially wearing Land's End t-shirts for play. Each player should have one Black and one Yellow shirt. This will allow us to build and adjust teams easily during Sunday pick up play. There is talk about having screens made so the we can offer our fantastic logo on the shirts. In the meantime, if you don't have a set of shirts, please surf over the Lands End and buy one Black and one Golden Yellow shirt in your size. They are $8 each. I also scored a bag of shirts on sale recently. I will bring them to the games.

SCHEDULE

Spring play is now underway. We are now starting at 4 PM. We NEED people in a big way. Drag anybody you can find along. We have extra bikes and mallets.

We will be participating in the annual event to be held this year in Charlestown WV. This event attracts Polo enthusiasts from all over the US, so mark your calendar now.
