1.      Systems and training making it possible for everybody to have the information they need to succeed. From vendor to operator, shipping clerk to customer.

2.      Kan-Ban as much as possible.

3.      Quality driven through process control at all levels.

4.      Identify each long-lead time item on all BOMs. 

5.      Identfiy process constraints (bottlenecks).

6.      Establish automated vendor grading system.

7.      Bar-code everything from shop work orders to shipping/receiving documents.

8.      Handle each job as a unique project.

9.      Know when to expedite before losing schedule ability.

10.  Implement Continuous Process Improvement at all levels.

11.  Maintain configuration control including tooling and processes

12.  Rigorous application of Request for Corrective Action both internal and external.

13.  Delegate project responsibility for each job order on a rotating basis.

14.  Systems training and maximum use of office automation.

15.  Posted measurement performance. (Inventory/on-time deliveries)

16.  Three tickets in each manager’s/supervisor’s pocket each day.

17.  Apply Supplier Improvement Practices. (Sanyo, 1983-86)

18.  JIT II as much as possible.
