Trade With Mexico
Welcome to an ever-changing and improving resource center for commercial traders in both California and Mexico. This resource is made available as the result of a meeting between Governor Davis and President Zedillo in early 1999. The California-Mexico Trade Assistance Centers (CMTAC) concept is now an initiative supported by 17 California CITDs (Centers for International Trade Development) located on community colleges around the state www.cmtac.org Most services are at no cost.
This Web Page is available to any company in Mexico or California as a guide to help develop an international trade function within their organization. Knowing just how difficult change can be, the material focuses on how to bring about a successful transformation from a domestic company to an international player.
The year 2002/3 offers California job shops the greatest opportunity since the gold rush. Think of high-volume, low-cost mass production in California with state-of-the-art machines and tools. Then second operations (labor intensive) in a shop in Mexico for just in time delivery to your customer across the street in Tijuana, Ensenada, Tecate or Mexicali. For ideas on Innovative Manufacturing go to Wayne Lundberg's material.
This site provides you with lists of actions that must take place in order to import or export. It is a no-nonsense, non-political, non-bureaucratic "how-to" manual for change.
An on-line course in project management is available for your champions of change who will be implementing your entry into international trade. On-line coaching is available via Email by clicking Waynelund@worldnet.att.net
