It is not going to get done now. My dog has leukemia. I need help. Please visit the Updates/What's New page for details.
Welcome to Ronald Frobnitz and Family, a web site dealing with Lilian Jackson Braun, the Cat Who... series, and all things Qwilleran. This site was established in an attempt to make up for the inexcusable lack of Internet coverage on this wonderful series and will hopefully become a gathering place for Cat Who... fans everywhere.
How many books are there in the Cat Who... series? Which comes before which? What's this one about? Looks like you need the Cat Who... Primer. Have any questions about Cat Who... content, characters, or continuity? Look here for answers. "Mountclemens says Halapay is a charlatan. Halapay says Zoe Lambreth's paintings are a hoax. Zoe says Sandy Halapay is uninformed. Sandy says Mountclemens is irresponsible. Mountclemens says Farhar is incompetent. Farhar says Mountclemens knows nothing about art. Mountclemens says Earl Lambreth is pathetic. Lambreth says Mountclemens is a monument of taste, truth, and integrity. So...who's on first?" Whew...a long lead-in, but this section will hopefully be more than worthy of it; it houses the Ronald Frobnitz review archive, with dissertations on all twenty-two installments of the Cat Who... series. Right now, though, I have only my own reviews to offer; my goal is to have submissions from Cat Who... fans from all over, so please submit your work! "Qwilleran felt miraculously in harmony with a world in which art critics could cook like French chefs and cats could read." Ah, but don't we all? But just in case an obscure character or an unknown locale might cause you inner discord, this mini-encyclopedia is on hand; it gives detailed descriptions of all the recurring places and people in Braun's universe. Now available in spoiler and non-spoiler versions! "Who reads? I just look at pictures and check my credit line." Honestly, if you don't read, you've no reason visit this site in the first place. If you'd like to peruse our collection of Cat Who... related artwork, however, follow the link below. Fan-created artworks would be much appreciated! "She has done some studies of Kao K'o Kung, capturing all his mystery, magic, perversity, independence, playfulness, savagery, and loyalty." Not only that, but she has also created one of the most original, captivating, interesting, and - yes, to echo the words of numerous critics - charming mystery series in print. Come and learn a bit more about our heroine, or simply visit to worship and reflect. An Unbefittingly Small Biography of and Shrine to Lilian Jackson Braun "I had just come downstairs to invite you for a cup of Lapsang Souchong and and some dessert. Rather laboriously I transported home a Dobos torte from a very fine Viennese bakery in New York." OK, OK, I myself can't cook worth anything. If you, however, are among the culinarily inclined, you might want to check this li'l section out. From those infamous pasties to Onoosh's "meatballs in little green kimonos", here are some recipes for some tasty treats from the Cat Who... universe. (Nothing from Iris Cobb's cookbook yet, though, sorry.) "Every scrap of information helps." That quotation, for the website's purposes, pertains to the location of Moose County, a much-discussed topic among fans. Where is it situated in the U.S. of the Cat Who... universe? Upon which real-life locales was it based? This section addresses fans' answers to those questions. So Where Is Moose County (well, and Down Below, too), Anyway? "Mountclemens brought his work to our attention and put us in touch with the artist's American agent, for which we are grateful." Folks curious about how Braun's tales of Qwilleran and Koko's work have fared abroad might wish to investigate this compilation of publication information on foreign ediitons of the Cat Who... series. A Cat (and Another Cat and a Journalist) Abroad "By all means, interview the woman, if only for your own education. Wear tennis shoes. If she stages one of her insane tantrums, you may have to sprint for your life or dodge metal ingots." I don't really view physical violence as the way to win my arguments (not on a regular basis, at least), but my opinions do run strong and deep. This section is an outlet for my biweekly discussions of, outbursts on, and ruminations about the series. If anyone would care to be a guest columnist, please contact me! Straight from the C-Pad "I've picked up a few facts. Do you want to hear them now, or do you want to order first?" A little haven for observations, trivia, or intriguing connections sent in by attentive readers that add a bit of context to various situations throughout the Cat Who... mysteries. "I can understand controversy in sports and politics, but art is art, isn't it?" Well, not exactly. Everybody is entitled to (and has) their own opinion, so voice yours in our latest poll! "It isn't all junk. He has a few very fine things. Heaven knows where he gets them. But mostly it's junk - beautiful junk." Frobnitz's collection of found objects that don't conform to the conventions of normal society - i.e., don't fit anywhere else on this webpage - are collected here. Up currently - the Quote-of-the-Week Archive, a li'l archive of readers' encounters with the author, a small section devoted to kitty-cat paraphenalia, an account of a Mark Twain biographer's brushes with the author, a collection of stills from a beautiful 3-D rendering of the barn, and a guestbook, for those inclined to sign such. "Thanks, pal. Thanks for the welcome celebration." Many folks deserve credit for helping to create and maintain this site. Here's my meager attempt at repaying them for their efforts. "Do you have any more yarns? Or can I go home to my wife and kiddies?" Leaving so soon? Well, then, allow me to suggest some destinations of possible interest. This site has been hit
times. But, hey, give us time; we've only been open since October 18, 1998! ---Got a problem? Contact me.---
